I've been trying to find out if NuvaRing can cause Pelvic Inflamm...

I have had terrible itching, burning and painfull sex since I started the ring. I am 99% sure it was NR. I have stopped taking it and have an appointment with a gyn to make sure there are no bacterial infections, or vagisitis.

I experienced terrible pains during intercourse for approximately 6 months, I could not even get into sex because of the pain and it eventually led to a mild depression. I went to the doctor several times and pleaded my case trying to explain to him the pain I was experiencing. I had been going to him for the past 10 years, he actually suggested that the problem might be my muscles were spazming so he gave me muscle relaxers, and xanax (guess I should have just passed out and let my boyfriend do his thing?) Then he said maybe my vaginal opening was too small and he could cut me to make the opening a little bigger!!! I finally left him to go to a woman because I thought surely she would understand the gravity of the situation. She did! I gave her a brief history about myself, the Nuvaring, and the pain I had been experiencing. It was a pinching feeling right at the inside of my vaginal opening and it actually felt like I had a cut or abrasion in my vagina. My new doctor did an examination and within minutes she diagnosed me with having swollen skene's glands inside my vaginal wall. She put me on an antibiotic and the pain stopped almost immediately but it did come back. I went back to the doctor and she actually had to give me a shot (yes, in my vagina) directly into the gland. Now it has been almost a year and it has not re-occurred, but when I tell you it was bad I mean it, so I know what you're going through. I cried when the doctor told me what it was and what it would take to resolve the problem. I hd never heard of Skene's glands and my new doctor says it's pretty rare so I thought mayb this was something you could look into. Good luck!
