I am calling several of the lawyers I found on the web today to investigate my options. I am super pissed off that my health was jeopardized, and my doctors and I were not warned about the increased risk for serious side effects and complications.

What's the fuss about? I use the NuvaRing, too. Did you guys experience some kind of problem with it?

I would be interested in joining a class action law suit against the makers of levaquin.

If you are too, please write to me at: politicalrisks@hotmail.com.

Thanks...

I completely agree. I too was on Nuvaring for 3 years and feel like I've been walking around in someone else body the entire time. The reason I took it for as long as I did was because I didn't realize THAT was the problem. I was going through other problems at the time, and just chalked it up to being overly emotional and not being able to handle problems like I had in the past - for whatever reason. I kept telling friends and family that something wasn't right, but couldn't put my finger on it exactly. I was suicidal at times, irrational, angry, sensitive -ALL the time. I had even convinced myself (and everyone around me - not a lot of convincing needed) that I was now bi-polar. My husband & children have suffered, my parents have suffered watching me go through this, and I can't believe that little plastic/rubber?? ring is the cause. I've read post from several sites and have just sat here and cried - partly because I realize these are 3 years I can't get back, and partly because I'm so happy I finally know what the problem is. I took the ring out 3 days ago and have already started to feel better. I'm not saying that everyone will have this reaction, but if you are having feelings (physical and emotonal) that are not normal for you - don't ignore it like I did. Maybe it's not the ring - but you owe it to yourself to find out.

Has anyone experienced ammenorhea after discontinuing Nuvaring? I came off of the Nuvaring 1 year ago. I was on it for 3 years. I no longer menstruate or ovulate on my own. I've had 2 periods in the past year after coming off of Nuvaring due to taking Prometrium to force my body to menstruate. Has anyone else experienced this??? Please let me know lalora@bellsouth.net

Just because you had terrible side effects doesn't mean you should ruin it for the people that actually find it useful.

I would never dream of telling someone that they WILL experience problems, but after nearly dying from three large blood clots that developed just 2 1/2 months after I began the NuvaRing (I have been on various other birth control pills and patches for more than 20 years without incident), I have NO doubt it is the cause. I have no family history, do not smoke, and have shown no predisposition to clotting disorder in the large number of tests I've completed since this life-changing incident. I've spent nearly a year unable to engage in a number of physical activities that I love for a year for fear of injury that could become life threatening due to having to take blood thinning medication. So I spent a week in the hospital, missed four months of work, changed my lifestyle for the worse, gained 40 lbs., and been exhausted for a year over something that just seemed to work better for me than other birth control medications. But I assure you, for me and for the families of other young women who were less fortunate and did not survive their clots or strokes, it is NOT WORTH THE RISK.

Ok yes some of u might have had terrible side effects but that dosent mean u should ruin it for the rest of us that find it perfectly fine and useful.... Just find another option dont say they should take it off the market some people are fine and like this method...

I don't think the people that are saying others are going to ruin it it this product is taken off the market understand how much more dangerous the Nuvaring (a 3rd generation birth control) is compared to other birth controls. The risk of developing blood clots is 2x's as much as others. That is huge! It is not that we are wanting to ruin it for the rest of the women, but if you would walk one day in the shoes we have had to wear due to the Nuvaring then you would think twice about using it. I really just want women to be more informed of the risks. Don't think it won't happen to you, because that was exactly my frame of mind.

I used this form of birth control for three months, not only did I get a blood clot in my eye, which distorts my vision, I got pregnant. And I don't want to hear any garbage about not using the ring correctly. I did.

all forms of birth control have side effects. some people experience them and others dont. you have to find what is rigth for you as an individual. i use the nuva ring and have not had any problems. as far as a law suit or taking it off the market: a person cant know how a new medication will effect them until they try it. its a risk everyone must take when they start new meds.

I too experienced a SEVERE blood clot that was near fatal due to this product. I was on several different types of birth control for over 15 years and never had any other side effects. Unfortunately, there are several others in my small town that have had the same problem with this product. I missed 2 months of work, had 2 surgeries, could not walk for over a month and was on blood thinners. This has affected any decisions on pregnancy for me for the rest of my life and I am now unable to be on any birth control because of what this product has done. All because of a little ring that was supposed to be so much more convenient than the pill. I will forever regret the day I decided to go with convenience rather than the normal birth control that most people take every day.

I also was diagnosed with blood clots on July-8-2009. At first they thought the clots were from an ankle injury back in May. Finally one of my doctors asked what type of birth control I was on. She made me go home and immediately take out the NuvaRing. Because of this stupid Ring I will never be on any type of hormonal birth control again. I have two choices…condoms or a diaphragm! I didn’t even know they still make diaphragms! I just got married in December. This has been a wonderful thing to deal with our 1st year of marriage. My blood levels are all over the place from Coumadin and we can’t get them stable. My leg is purple, red and swollen all the time and my ankle has turned into a cankle! Worst of all, I still have the clots and I’m scared to death of getting more or having them move! I was a very active person before all this crap. Now, I’m just so tired! Several doctors said the clots caused permanent damage to my ankle/leg. Hopefully the clots will be gone soon so I can start physical therapy. I just love walking with a limp! I will be on the blood thinner for at least 6 months and who knows what else. Every day it seems like something new! I too wish I had never been prescribed this crap!

huh... well i have been on the ring for 5+ yrs and have never had a problem. i am a pack a day smoker and am in perfect health other than smoking which i am sure will catch up with me later as did my great great granny... i am very sorry to those who have had blood clots due to this birth control. i know what it is like to have a severe health condition(cervical cancer) i wish the best to the people who are living through their hard struggle. i have always known that with every birth control their is a risk to high blood pressure and even more of a risk if you smoke and if it is genetic as is my case with both scenarios. i think everyone's body is different and reacts to things different and are more predisposition-ed to certain things such as cervical cancer or blood clots etc... as with every product there are going to be pros and cons. pros for some and cons for others, but it should be knowingly when you are using things that are man made. i made the decision after being off the ring for a yr to go back on because it was in my best interest to be on birth control. not on it my emotions were more severe, i was underweight, i had no energy, and did not look healthy at all. and i will also admit what i should tell my drs but dont that majority of the time i skip that time of the month so i am on a consistent dose of hormones and i tell you this not to disclaim the women who have had bad experiences with this birth control but to also be the added information for whoever. i believe all should share their experiences so women are better informed but i also dont want women to be unduly scared. talk with you drs tell them what is going on make appointments even if it is out of paranoia, they will understand that is what they are there for. and if they tell you that you are not a dr and cant diagnose yourself find a better dr that will listen to you i tell you this because i didn't have help for a yr to find out that i had cervical cancer and had to have surgery which luckily wasn't the worst surgery but had i been helped when i told the drs something was wrong i wouldn't have had to have surgery in the first place. i wish the very best to everyone using the nuva ring or thinking about using the nuva ring.

i too was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism last week , now my life has changed FOREVER. I am only 28yrs old and a grad student and i don't smoke or drink, I was healthy before going on the nuvaring. I have been talking to several lawyers about filing a suit because i did not know about these side effects. Interestingly enough when i told my ob/gyn about my symptoms and complaining about chest pains she looked at me and said the nuvaring has no side effects. i could have died because of her negligence and dishonesty. i had gone to another doctor and he examined me and then admitted me to the ER that same day, thank god for him!!!!!

i also was diagnosed with dvt about a month ago caused by the nuva ring. i had a dvt from my knee to above my belly button, the doctors said i was very lucky not to have had a massive pulmonary embolism. i am only 27 (just turned 27). my life has forever been changed by this birth control. i have been on a lot of different birth control's (since i was 8, for medical reasons) and never had a problem like this. nuva ring just about cost me my life. i was in the hospital for 6 days. i had to have surgery and have to have a second surgery. i am on blood thinners which make my life a living "hell". the side effects to the blood thinners are horrible. i can not carry on a normal life. i have the green fill filter in place just in case the clot moves or i have more clots form. I am told i will be forever dealing with this clotting issue. doctors say i may have permanent damage to my leg and foot from the clot. it stays swollen and purple all of the time. sometimes i cant even feel it. i lost a month out of work, doctors wanted me to stay out longer but i could not afford to fully recover. i still cant work my part time job. for you that say you take risk on any medication you take, that is so ture. but i like to be informed about ALL of the risk before i take a medication. nuva ring increases clots by 50% compared to other birth control medthods. the puplic should have been openly informed about that risk. nuva ring should be held reliable for not informing women as they should have. i was one of the people who though that will never happen to me. i am here to tell you it can happed to you, it can happen to anyone. i was on the nuva ring for 1 1/2 years before the clot that alomst took my life formed. just be careful taking this medication. consider another form of birth control.
