Hey there. So, I was just on this site trying to find out the reason for my indentation. Well, from the sounds of it, it is the EXACT same thing that you have. I was given a steriod shot around september/october last year. Why, I don't exactly know. I had a cold (mostly sniffling, coughing, and wheezing) for about two months and the doctor had prescribed about 4 different types of medication. Lastly, was the steriod shot. Well, they didn't decide to tell me any of the affects that it would have, nor exactly what it was. So, now I have this indentation on my hip/butt where they gave me the shot. I had called the doctor about a month after the shot and asked them what it could be from and they just stated that "oh, sometimes that happens". That's all the response that I got! So, to go along with you, I am extremely pissed. I am only 22 years old and now I have a 70 year old looking indentation on my hip/butt. My husband isn't too happy, but it's a good thing I am married, otherwise someone might thing something else of it. If you could, would you please let me know if anyone gives your advice, for physical reasons or legal actions. I work for two attorneys, one that deals somewhat with malpractice, but haven't really talked to them about it. So, if I find anythng out, I will be sure to let you know. And please let me know vice versa. Sorry about the whole situation.
I too have a wonderful reminder of a kenalog injection on my right hip. It's a huge, deep pitted indentation about the size of a baseball. My husband first noticed it in August 06. I think I was given the shot back in March or April of 06-however I have had MULTIPLE shots on both sides on more than one occasion. It has gotten progressively WORSE, and on my last visit to the dr. the nurse noticed I have a matching pair, it seems there is small one on the left side as well. I'm not sure how long it has been there, if it has gotten worse, etc. I have been so focused on the huge one on the right side I hadn't noticed. I have been referred out to a dermatologist, (not sure what good that will do) but feel it will surely land in the plastic surgeon's office. It's embarrasing, as my panties, pants, swimsuit get "stuck" in this huge pitted indention. I hope and pray this can be fixed!!!
Hi, I have the exact same problem. I recieved a kentalog injection and noticed an indentation shortly after. However I used to work for the doctor whom of which his medical assistant gave me the shot. He felt so bad that he paid for me to get plastic surgery. They cut out the skin around the indentation and injected fat from my stomach into my butt. Now 2 years later I have a huge scar from one side of my hip to the other and get this: the dent is coming back. I am questioning whether to get another surgery or what. Good Luck to you, as I can totally understand what you are going through.
Hi,
I guess I am not the only one out there with a ugly dimple in their butt. I went to the doctor's when I was away on work because I had a severe allergic reaction to something.... They gave me the shot with no forwarnings and a month later I noticed a indented bruise. Is plastic surgery the only answer? I really hope not. I would of dealt with the hives if I knew this was going to happen. Any advise or comments are so appreciated. I'm glad to know I am not the only one suffering with this problem. I am going to the dermatologist soon, I will reply back to this log to let you know what my doctor says.
Hi I have had the same type thing happen lately. I used to receive monthly B12 injections and now this indention has appeared a year after the fact. I am trying to recall if I have had another shot since then. but can't recall. I am also in my 30's and thought it was just a fat dimple. It has since turned into the size of a tennis ball. Is the anything you have been told in order to get rid of the indention?
Thanks!
Hi again,
I went to the dermatologist and they stated it will take a long time for the indentation to fill back in with fat- About 1-2 years. I was very unhappy to hear this. The only other option was to take fat from somewhere else (in which I do not have), and to inject it in by a plastic surgeon. Most health insurances do not cover this procedure. And indentation may return after all that money spent. Good luck everybody
I also had Kenalog injections, but for pain after a car accident (seven of them in the back), causing several sites of atrophy, acne, hair growth and pain. I am in the process of suing the Dr. and the medical center where she worked. It's been three years since the injections, my deposition with the lawyers is tomorrow. I'm not sure how many other cases have been successful with this, but I think it's horrendous how negligent these doctors are. I also was not told of any side effects, never signed a consent, and certainly wouldn't have had the injections if I had known the problems they caused.
my story sounds eerily similar to all of your stories -- i received a kenalog injection (40mg) into my right arm (below the deltoid) last may 2007, and two months later the bruised dent was the size of a silver dollar. now (september 2007) the dent is approximately the size of a golf ball with mild bruising still visible. my GP simply denied any knowledge of the side effect and completely dismissed any suggestion that my erratic periods (i'm having one every other week) could be due to "just one shot." again, my story isn't much different from all of yours, but i felt compelled to share it, just to make the number of similar cases known...
I have the exact same thing- I just want my Dr. to jump up and offer to pay for it- and hes not.. the man even suggested a plastic surgeon that he knows very well.. he did NOT offer to pay and /or say he could even get me a deal.. I said "is this gonna cost thousands??? " and he said "most likely"... Not feeling bad for what he did. All they had to do was warn me... thats it- and i would have never gotten it. that was my best feature!!!!! now i have a golf ball indent on my bottom. im so upset.. could cellulite prevention lotion help you think? if anyone has and legal assistance for me- please let me know... i want this taken care of.
A known side effect of steriods (topical or injectable) is that the "fat pad" (skin, muscle or fat) under the skin at the site of injection (or repeated use of topical preparation) can atrophy. I've had repeated injections of steriods in my scalp and I usually have an indention for up to a year before the area regenerates. Some people are more susceptible than others. For some of us, we just have to be patient, but for others, the damage may be permanent. It seems to be a calculated risk.
If I'd known this was a possibility...I'd never have gone near the stuff!
Now I'm left with a scar and it doesn't seem to be going away.
There must be something else around to alleviate hayfever.
can you get silicone shot into your indentation? i just got some sort of shot in my forehead b/c i went to a doc in NYC to get silicone injected into a chicken poc scar i have on my forehead..the IDIOT missed and gave me 3 little bumps on my forehead..so my skin doc sent me to another doc who deals w/ silicone..i got a shot 2 weeks ago..now i have a dent..i'm reading that it goes away..i see him tomorrow..if this doesn't go away i'm going to have him fill it with silicone..you might want to do so as well..this doc is in Van Nuys Dr. Wirtzer..but he is the doc that gave me the dent.
I'm so relieved to find this site. I woke up this morning and was getting dressed. On the left upper side of my buttock, I noticed a small indention. I called my husband to look at it, and we were clueless. I then googled "buttock indention's", and came across this site. Two months ago, I went to see my Dermatologist for dermatitis that was on my face. See diagnosed it as"Peri Oral Dermatitis". See said she wanted to give me a shot(calling it a miracle drug), and that my face would start clearing up dramatically the next day. She was right, but now I have this small indention that is unexplained. I did not ask her the name of the drug at the time. I am 33, and feel helpless as well. I'm going to schedule an appointment to go see her again, so I can show her this. Please feel free to send me an email at tampabaybucsrule1@yahoo.com. I'm now thinking about contacting a lawyer my self. Thanks for your posting.
