Thank God for this web site. When you are on medications you don't know if you are getting sicker with something else or if it is side effects from a drug. I am 56 yrs old and never sick. I hate to take any medications. I got an infection in my prostrate doctor said this is not uncommon. The symptoms were having problems urinating. The doctor put me on 30 days of Sulfameth Trimethoprim. I have been on it for 7 days only. The good news is the infection is and has been subsiding. I can now urinate no problem. The bad news is I have gone through a whole gamete of side effects on Sulfameth Trimethoprim. It started out in the first 2 days with a sore throat and a cough. Then I lost my appetite for a good 4 days and felt nauseated just looking at food. Now much of that has passed. Now I get these intense chills for 2 hours sometimes for 30 minutes usually with no fever. The chills usually come with in 2 hours after I have taken a dose. I think I am going to suffer through this dosage for a while yet because I do think the infection is subsiding. I worry about being on this for another 23 days though.
I had strep once and the doc prescribed me erythromycin too. Had an adverse reaction. Uncontrolable vomiting and everything. Spent the night in the ER the stomach pain was sooo bad. Put me on an IV and made me drink this disgusting green stuff that i kept throwing back up. The doctors told me most ppl can't take the drug, yet they're still prescribing it.
