I have beenon lipitor for more than five years. I now have unbearable pains in my shoulders which are only relieved with antiinflammatories. I also have pains in my right foot which is sometimes very difficult to walk on. My Dr says ok go off lipitor but risk heart attack/stroke. I am getting to the point that the pain is so debilitating that Idon't care.

I am 42, male, no previous hx of of high BP or cardiac problems,. As of 4 months ago I had an Acute MI with a 100 % block of my Circumflex. The I was rushed to a 24 hour a day emergency cardiac unit and they performed an angioplastiy and put in a bare metal stent. I have now been placed on a few post cardiac drugs. 1) Zocor for cholesterol 2) Lipitor for High BP.
3) Asprin bc I had a heart attack 4) last but not least have tried Several of the over the counter and prescription strength stomach meds. Now on with my problem. I have never had these issues till now, so either something happened to me as a result of my heart attack, or my stent/angioplasty or lastly my meds I am on. I suffer daily with Intense Muscle pain all over my body, my shoulders, my left arm especially, my thighs and legs, my hand dont want to work worth a darn and I swear my vision is very poor now especially when reading, and I constantly have an upset stomach. The upset stomach and the muscle pains are my main complaints and I was wondering if anyone else on my same meds and with having had a heart attack or not is having these problems, because I suspect its my meds but as you know the cadiologists wants you taking these meds at a minimum after having an MI. I would love to hear back from anyone.,

I had been taking a low dose for 3+ years, when my dosage was increased. I had an extreme inflammation problem. My shoulders and hips were sore, a long ago back injury began giving me pain again, and an eye exam showed swelling of blood vessels to my retina. I've been off the Lipitor for 6 months, and have been eating an "anti-inflammatory" diet, as well as seeing a chiropractor, and orthopedist. My back is better, but, even though the generalized inflammation has receded, my shoulders are still in rough shape, making sleep very difficult. My concern is that there may have been some permanent damage to my shoulders. They're continually painful, and pop or snap dozens of times a day.

Please do look for signs of inflammation!

Things that have helped a bit:
Fish Oils
Flax Oil
Coenzyme Q10
Over the Counter Anti Inflammatories

(sigh)

The shoulders got much worse. Now have a tear in the labrum of my left shoulder, which will require surgery...
