I have had worse experiences of a similar nature. I have been taking Ambien, 10 ms, for over two years with no problems. Then two weeks ago, according to my spouse, I fell out of bed at night. My wife was alarmed and, she tells me, asked if I was okay. I replyed with slurred speach that I was fine. Alarmed, she called paramedics. I wolk up in the ER some 8 hours later with absolutley no memory of what had happened. I associated this event with Ambien because I had heard of it causing amnesia. Unwisely, I didn't stop taking it thinking that what had occured was a one time event.
Last week two hours after taking my Ambien and falling asleep, I got out of bed and started rearranging funiture in the living room. When my wife approched me, I took a step toward her and fell on my face breaking my nose! Again my speach was slurred. And again I have absolutely no memory of this happening. I have not taken an Ambirn since then. I'd rather not sleep and be exhausted than kill myself doing somthing stupid on this dangerous drug.
I will always rememer what my wife said to me about 8:00 AM that morning when I returned to conciousness. "Mark, that wasn't you last night. It was somebody or something different. It just WASN'T YOU".
