I was so glad to read your post.I was given Levaquin 10 days ago for a UTI.I took it for 5 days.On the second day just like you my tongue started to tingle and burn. By the third day I could not stand food in my mouth. I too thought I might have a yeast infection in my mouth. I started eating yogurt which usually will clear a yeast infection. I still cannot stand food in my mouth. I too have lost about 7 pounds. I don't mind the weight loss but I cannot go on not eating because I am starving to death.
Have you learned anything new that might help?
Yes, I had Levaquin UTI. At the site of the IV, the vein carrying the levaquin to my body became pink. I asked the nurse, what is this? She said that was Levaquin Burn. They stopped the Levaquin and the vein turned from pink to normal blue. Iching ocurred at IV site. 3 Days after Levaquin, the back up my mouth got sore, red bruising ocurred on lip, and the uvula (hangy down thing in throat) was blood red. Friend had told me about Levaquin burn, so I was able to inquire about this problem before things got nasty. Do I trust drug companies, of course not. It is strange that my friend knew about Levaquin Burn, but the doctor didn't.
