I, too, have been experiencing hair loss, anxiety, depression, memory loss and severe fatigue. I have been on Singulair for just over two years now with these consistant symptoms...never put it together until I found this site. There are only a couple of mentions of female hair loss on the site--- I'd be interested to know if this really is a side effect---if many others are finding this as well. I am visiting my doc tomorrow and almost want to bring print outs of these posts as I present my symtoms. Anyway, thanks for everyone's posts and I'd appreciate anymore info on the hair loss.
I started to use Singulair
04/22/2008 for a period of about
20 days. I was taking it for
allergies resulting from Food and
pollen. But mainly for food
allergy. THe medication did not
have any effect on either one of
those. I still was getting hives
from the food allergy and pollen.
It didnt seem to control anyting.
So after 20 days I stopped taking
it. But during the later part of
discontinuing the medication and
until now I have had major
problem resulting from it. My hair
has been falling out like crazy on
the top of my head. This had
become really severe and you
could really see my scalp and the
thinning of my hair. I was really
scared and started to search on the
net regarding any issues that might
be out there. I came across many
that have had a same type of side
effect. Some reported that it took
then nearly 8 months later that
their hair started to grow back. For
others the falling of hair reduced
after a few months. To me the hair
loss is still there. But it seems to be getting less.
I have been on Singulair just about a year. I have been noticing that my hair seemed to be thinning but thought nothing about it until my husband pointed out that he could see my scalp and that I must be loosing my hair. That's when I realized that this hair loss was not normal. I had always had loads of hair and that was the last thing I was worried about. I researched all the drugs I had used, even my birth control pill but didn't think about Singulair. Yesterday, I realized that it was the only medication I hadn't research. Once I did, it all made since. Singulair was the culprit to my hair loss. I'm so glad that other people have confirmed that also!!!
Hey I'm 21 and I've been taking Singulair and Advair for about two months. My hair began to fall out I thought it was just summer shedding (i have really long hair past my hips). So I didn't think anything of it. So two weeks go by and clumps of hair started to fall out. I knew something was wrong. In the patient information it doesn't say hair loss but, I know for sure no matter what any doctor says I know my body best and the only change in my life style and diet was these two medications. Also, I've been very easy to snap on those around me lately and have had muscle aches on TOP OF THE MASSIVE HAIR LOSS!!!
