I have been taking Lipitor for about 5 years now and have had numerous things happen to me. Just trying to find out if they relate to the Lipitor or not. Have developed extreme fatigue and depression over the years. Always seems like I am in a fog. Have tried numerous anti-depressants trying to conquer this. Nothing seems to work and the problems continue. I was thinking that I just have to live with it and then I thought about the Lipitor. Has anybody experienced any of these symptoms too? I am on 20mg.

I took 20mg of lipitor for about 4 years and slowly had the same symptoms as you of depression, fatigue, short term memory loss, "brain fog", as well as some added things in the last couple of months like severe neck muscle pain, shoulder pain, back pain, vision clouding in both eyes, unable to lift heavy things, and leg spasms at night.

I stopped taking lipitor over two years ago and all the symptoms have gone except for the shoulder pain sometimes. Also, taking 60mg of Q10 a day helped a lot with the muscle pain and energy level during the long recovery process of about a year or so, although I did feel better a few days after stopping the Lipitor.

There are LOTS of web sites that say that we have it all wrong about cholesterol like http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/cholesterol.htm and http://ezinearticles.com/?Cholesterol-Does-Not-Cause-Heart-Disease&id=35406 Also google Doctor Mercola..

It is the sugar and processed food that causes the artery problems, etc, not cholesterol. Even pfizers own web site states "LIPITOR has NOT been shown to prevent heart disease or heart attacks". Why take something that does not do what it was prescribed for and causes side effects?

Cutting down sugar consumption and taking maybe 1000mg of vitamin C does a lot more good for your arteries than lipitor.

if you are still having side effects to Lipitor, coq-10 can help. Available at super markets, health food stores etc... but cheapest on-line. I was told 300mg a day but had to go up to 900 mg a day and the symptoms started to lesson in 3 days and were GONE within a week! You have to keep taking it or they will come back as your body repairs itself, I found out the hard way, But I was on crutches unable to walk, I also took Acetyl L-Carnitine 500mg 3X a day. If you have any questions I posted 9-4-7 and feel free to contact me, God Bless

My mother was on Lipitor for ten years until I took her off cold turkey. She was off Lipitor for three years unitl her new doctor put her back on in March of '07. I am having her taken off the DRUG immediately, it is Oct. '07. Her experiences have been more mental than physical. Depression, irritableness, MEMORY loss, can't put words to thoughts very weel and has been diagnosed with dimentia. Her condition worsened in the 6 months she has been back on the DRUG. I look forward to having a mother that is more pleasant and more lucid to be around; AND more emotionally stable!
