I recently was given 200mg over the recommended pharmaceutical dose of Lamictal. My dr.'s partner prescribed this after a trip to the ER for a seizure to get me by until I could see my regular neurologist at the beg. of the week. The extra dose caused major blurred vision side effects, inability to walk, extreme sensitivity to light, and nausea. I am now at 400mg of Lamictal and starting Topomax with it so I hope this works. Any thoughts from anyone else taking this med combo?

I take both Topamax and Lamictal. I like Topamax. It has worked well as a headache preventative, but it hasn't done much for me siezure-wise. I have siezures as a result of hormonal imbalance due to the location of a brain lesion of unknown type (inoperable at this point), so we may not have the same prognosis. The Lamictal I'm not so crazy about. Talk to the doc about trying something else perhaps. Stay away from Keppra and Depakote as well... they both make you cry like a baby and bring on the "brain fog."
