I stopped taking Lipitor a little over a week ago. I have been experiencing severe leg pains and hip pains for quite a long time. I had many tests done to see what was causing the pain, but all the tests came back negative. Since stopping the Lipitor I am only experiencing pain in my left calf, all other pain has gone. I was also feeling heart palpitations for the past year or so.... nothing lately. Hopefully I have discovered the cause of all my body aches. Guess I'll have to find another way to reduce my cholesterol level.
I was getting what I thought might have been shingles with painful burning sensation on my upper torso front and back. At the same time I was feeling tired and achey. Suspected I might have the flu so I went to doctor and he took x-rays and ran blood tests. The x-rays came out normal but the blood test revealed I had low rbc and elevated liver enzyme function. Also my left knee was quite sore and somewhat swollen. After some investigation I suspected my medications, Lipitor and Tricor. I immediately discontinued those drugs and eventually the rashless shingles sensation ended. The arthritic pain and swelling is still there, however. I discovered in my research that a vital enzyme CoQ10 is depleted from your body from Lipitor and other statins. This enzyme acts as an antioxidant and helps your body fight off a host of the maladies that invade otherwise invade our bodies. Moreover, cholesterol itself is vital and aids in the healing process. Of course you can get too much but there are more natural methods to reduce it. I am now taking the CoQ10 supplement plus vitamin C along with tri-omega fish oil and flax seed oil.
