I hadn't made the connection until I just read this. I started Adderall XR on 6th and started going back to my chiropractor the next week because of tingling in my right thumb and index finger. (like they were asleep) I don't know if they are connected, but now I have to wonder...
First of all, I am not a doctor but I am a mother of a child that was on Adderall for a little over a year and now I am on it and we have not had that type of side effect. Then again we both have taken 20mg and only one time a day. You might be taking too much in one day. Try once a day.
hello, I am on adderall 30mg regular 3x/day and have been for 2 years or so, i get pretty bad leg cramps at night since i have been on this. They seem to subside for a month or so and now im getting them again. Honestly i think what helped me is drinking alot of water with this med and be sure to eat with each dose. hope this helps.
I have been taking adderall xr 60mg a day for a year now and lately my hands go numb atleast once a day, sometimes waking me up in the middle of the night. At times its actually painful.
Hi,
I've had similar problems.
My problem has been occasional sudden and very strong spasms or cramps in the muscle in my palms (Adductor pollicis.) Its the muscle that caused the thumb to adduct, or close on the palm (for gripping and holding etc.) I am right handed and it's usually my right thumb that does it. It's quite alarming. I feel as if the spasm could pull my thumb right out of its joint. I have to quickly grab the base of the thumb and pull back to stretch the muscle until the spasm passes. It seems to have eased since I've moved, but I think that's because I am less active (haven't found a gym yet.)
I've been on Adderal (the generic, amphetamine salts, actually) 20 mg twice/day for about a year for ADD. I started it near the time I started on Lamictal 100mg once/day for Cyclothymia. I started both on the recommendation of a new doctor, but I've since moved and am considering alternatives in my treatment. (I don't think I buy the Cyclothymia diagnosis as I was going through a divorce at the time. Plus if I do have it, far from debilitating, it seems harmless or even a benefit in my profession, and its practically indistinguishable from many symptoms of ADD anyway, so easily confused.)
I've since found reference to similar side effects for both drugs. I originally thought it was the Lamictal, but I'm starting to think its the Adderall or a combination of the two combined with a physically active lifestyle.
