I have been using Yasmin for almost 10 years. Recently I have began getting migraines (never had them before), nasty vaginal discharge and an embarrassing increase in facial hair. I can somewhat deal with the migraines, but the other two symptoms are extremely irritating. I have been to my gyno for both. She told me that the discharge was "normal" with the use of Yasmin. I don't think snotty goo coming from your vagina for a straight week before your period is "normal". She assured me that all testing came back negative and it was just something I would have to deal with. As far as the facial hair goes...I can't leave the house without standing in front of a mirror and plucking my poor chin and neck for up to an hour each day. My gyno suggested that I get laser treatment, which would be grand if SHE were paying for it. I don't know if I want to continue taking Yasmin or not. I have ovarian cysts and used to have severe periods lasting for a week and a half at a time, and Yasmin had helped with those problems. Has anyone else had these problems...and what are you doing for them?

It sounds like you have Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). That would explain the facial hair and the cysts. I am also on Yasmin for the cysts but have not started to experience any of the other symptoms yet. Unfortunately, there is no cure and not much in the way of conclusive medical research about this condition. Just read up on the internet and try to eat right.

Hi. I too have been on Yasmin (for about 4 years). I kept thinking that all my symptoms were coincidental or in my head. I have extreme insomnia (i can fall asleep, but can't stay asleep). Zero sex drive. I believe I'm mildly depressed, I don't have the energy i used to. But worst of all, I have a rare condition where my eyelashes grow inward & damage my eyeball, which is expensive to treat. I've only stayed on the drug because I had such horrible cramps & I'm allergic to anti-inflammatory drugs like Advil. I'm so scared my cramps will come back, but I have to go off of Yasmin, really soon. I'm sorry you're in this boat too. Let me know if you figure out any alternatives.

I have PCOS too, I have been on diannett and yasmine for 4 years, but I stopped about a year ago.. the excess hair and irregular periods were not a problem until 2 months ago, when I had a bad emotional experience, then they all come back.. I some time fear I might turn into a monkey... do u girls thinks, emotions have an impact on the symptoms of PCOS??!!

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 6 months ago and was put on yasmin to help the condition i.e. eliminated the ovarian cystx by reactivating the normal ovarian function through synthetic hormones. The only symton I had of PCOS beofre I went on Yasmine was a bit of excess hair. my gyno told me after about 6 months my hair would decrease, which it had not as of late. I have found recently i am in a constant state of arousal, and I mean all day everyday. I'm unsure if this is a side effect of Yasmine, because according to other blogs it seems to decrease most womens sex drive. hmm.

I just received a prescription for yazmin and progesterone pills since I haven't had a period in over 2 months......I have found my symptoms are manageable when I eat right and take supplements, but I have been slacking and good food is hard to come by these days due to school.

I am so worried about taking the birth control because of all the side effects, and I haven't read any confirmation that it helps........
