I have been having similar symptoms. Feet feeling hot and tingling as you described with occasional tingling in my right arm. Kept thinking it was my arthritis but this is different. This is both feet and all around the bottom half of my feet. Makes wearing shoes a challenge. I've even done the cold water soak for my feet. I'm going to get off of this stuff. How can I exercise and improve my physical condition. I think it also is affecting my vision, sinuses, ears, thinking and I tend to feel dizzy at times.
I too, have the burning sensation in my legs, it seems as though it goes from by butt cheeks to the bottom of my feet. Could it be the medicine?
Have you received any replies to your question? I hope it helped. email me with any questions. i am not a doctor, but my doctors (all three including a urologist) said the same thing (my symptoms where not from the lisinopril). I made them change my meds today after reading this website with all of the symptoms. i think that you know your body better then anyone does. It is my opinion that if you believe your body does not react well to something, you should not take it. I also read one of these comments stating that this person who was having similar symptoms as you and I (i have more symptoms then you stated however) said that this is a product of venom from a brazilian snake. I appreciate that science can find a good thing from a bad thing, but I don't really want to take meds that are derived from snake venom. How about you? email me if you like (put lisinopril in the subject line) akilgoreaz@yahoo.com
I have been trying to figure out what is the cause of my problems for almost a year now. My hands turn red and the bottom half of my feet turn bright red, they look burnt. Than they burn and itch and it hurts so bad. Even my breasts when I am on my period burn. Also, 2 weeks before my period the redness and burning gets 10 times worse. It is unbareable. I can't stand more than 5 minutes in one place without my feet turning bright red and burning and itching. Also, the middle of my back burns and gets very hot. Also, I am usually cold all the time. I am so hot that when you touch my skin it feels like I have a fever, but I don't. I get so hot that I sweat and my thighs stick together, my underware and bra are wet from sweat. I am just feeling like I am on fire, I feel like I am burning all over, but my hands and feet show it more because they turn bright red. Also, any time i put pressure on my feet or hands it leaves a bright red indention and starts to burn uncontrollably and is very painful. I was told I had pressure dermatographia. But, I don't think that is what it is at all. if i fold my fingers inbetween each other and rest my hands on my tummy the insides of my fingers turn bright red and start burning. (i usually do this laying down relaxing) My doctor can't figure out what is wrong with me acts like i am crazy says it can't be the lisinopril. Well, after reading these posts i am getting off of this crap. I also take serequel and singulair which according to this sight can cause burning sensation also. Singulair gives me sever headaches also. So, i am getting off all 3 medications. I called my doctor today and she is on vacation so a nurse is going to call me back. I am getting off this crap and pray to God this is the cause and all this pain will stop. I can't take it anymore I am miserable.
I have been having symptoms of my hands burning so bad that they feel like they are n fire and it is so painful.......this seems to happen only at night when I lie down and it takes hours and hours to go away. My fingers also feel like they are asleep.....you know how when your foot falls asleep? Like that, only much worse and I have to shake my hands and massage them to try and get them to stop. This has been so bad at times that I have even thought I'd rather die than go on like this.
I am also on lisinopril but never even thought of that possibly being the cause. When I told my doctor, he said it was because I smoked and also acted like I was crazy. I am going to stop the lisinopril and see what happens. I am also on other blood pressure meds.....like 5 of them because my BP goes so high all the time but the lisinopril doesn't seem to help it anyway. Btw, thanks for this post. Now at least I have some hope that I can find a solution to this.
I have been getting a burning sensation on my legs, during the night when I am in bed. It is a weird feeling, it usually wakes me up, and I am a sound sleeper due to the fact I use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. There is a little bit of an itching along with it. I do not do anything for it, and I do fall asleep again.
I just happened to do a google search and found your post.
so you are not entirely alone. I have not told my Dr. I won't unless it gets really bad. I do take several medications for various problems. I take Hytrin, Terazosin, furosemide, metoprolol, avapro, coumadin, crestor, glumetza, potassium, magnesium oxide and metolazone. Probably one of these or a combination of some could be the culprit. Do you think????
I am just starting a weight loss and diabetic control program, so hopefully when I lose enough weight, I may be able to get rid of some of those medications, and then maybe the burning will go away.
Thats all for now.

Yes!!!! your not alone, my problem started when i was about 18 years old my hands and feet would go bright red (sometime blueish purple) and the burning sensation would drive me carzy. The only thing thats stops this looking unsightly is when i apply my tan, which helps cover up the colour. When i last went to the doctors he said i have reynolds syndrom. Im booking myself in with my doctor to have blood tests soon.
Hope this helps

I started taking Lisinopril 9 days ago. I was taking 20 mg, Within 7 days both of my feel and my fingertips had severe tingling and the doctor told me to stop the medication. It has been 2 days and no improvement in symptoms. How long does it normally take to go away?
I too am taking Lisinipril. I do not have the burning sensation but I do experience the tingling in my hands and arms. As I am typing this response my fingers are tingling. I play the guitar and have such tingling in my fingers that have to stop and shake my hands to even get relief. This is so annoying. I also have cramps in my neck muscles, calf muscles and especially in my left forearm. I can literally sit and watch the spasms in my arm. The muscle will twitch uncontrollably. The next day my arm is very sore to the point I try to avoid using it so the soreness can diminish.
WOW! Talk about a lucky Google hit. I've been scouring the web trying to figure out why I have this annoying burning sensation in my legs, then I noticed Lisinipril in the search results.
I'm going to call my doctor on this tomorrow. Thanks everyone.
if you find out let me know l have the same problem my hand turn red and burning feel like someone pour hot boiling water on them and l can 't sleep at night
Yes I have uncontrollable tingling in my arm and hand, I take lisinopril also.
I have taken many test and no cause was found.
I had the same bodily response from a blood pressure medication other than Lisinipril. My feet started burning the first day, and by the third day it was all over my body. Bright lobster red and painful burning sensation. Went to the pharmacist and she said that it was an allergic drug reaction and to go to the ER. The doctors there said the same thing. I was put on steroids, benedryl and something else (can't remember.) Was supposed to take religiously, if not it would return with a vengence. I agree with the other people that posted you know your body best. I have found that I am my best advocate and no one else. You have to stick up for yourself, and perhaps even switch doctors. Bottom line is I had two doctors on different days, and a pharmacist from a different facility say that is a allergic reaction and stop the meds. ASAP.
I am on Lisinipril too and i have tingling in my feet, legs and hands and the worst thing is I get cramps in my calves and i can feel spasms in my legs all the time. I called my Dr. and told her i am going off of this stuff.
Four weeks ago, during a routine office visit, (April 2009) I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and suffered from swollen feet from water retention. I'm 65. My doctor prescribed 20m of Lisinipril to be taken daily and 20m of Furosemide. She also ordered a CT Scan scheduled for a few days later. In the wee hours of the morning, the day after the CT Scan, I awoke with severe tingling in my arms and hands. I got up and saw that the palms of my hands were blood red. I was afraid I was having a delayed reaction to the dye from the CT Scan. I headed to the ER where I was basically told those particular symptoms were not that important. A few days later I began having swelling in my upper right stomach under the rib and in my lower right back under the rib. I went to the walk in clinic and asked if the ACE inhibitor Lisinipril could be causing these horrific symptoms. I was told it was unlikely. My doctor then prescribed a pain killer. Because of the syptoms, an ultrasound was ordered for my full abdomen which I just completed today. This morning I awoke feeling as though my feet were being held over a gas grill. The burning sensation was unbelieveable. I came home from the ultrasound and sat down at the computer. I put the words "the bottoms of my feet are burning" into the search engine and was shocked to find myself at a subject discussing Lisinipril. So many of us have the same symptoms. I did not take the pill this morning and plan to never take it again. I will see my doctor in ten days and request another blood pressure medication.
I feel as if I have found a support group. My feet have hurt for many, many years, and visits to the doctor, xrays, etc., provided no help. The pain is all over the foot, but especially in the top. I went on the generic of Norvasc in Nov. and within a few months my hands and feet were horribly swollen, worsening as the day went on. I had ringing in my ears, and horrible cramps in the middle of my back. My feet are hot, but do not turn red. I feel like I have electricity running through them. My doctor switched me to Lisinopril and for a week or two I thought I would recover. The swelling in hands and feet are less, but still there, and now my joints, especially knuckles, hips and ankles are very sore. I have pain in my lower back. The feet are still hot and tingling. I break out in strong hot flashes day and night, but don't know if it is medicine or menopause. I went off the Lisinopril this week and my symptoms are still there. This is scary. Google searches list possible causes as hypothyroidism (I was diagnosed with this in Oct....I am going to get a re-check to see if I am under-medicated), peripheral neuropathy, and diabetes, among many other things. Several other symptoms lean most likely to the thyroid problem. Why didn't my doctor have me monitored every few months? Posts above were correct. We know ourselves best...be your own advocate. Good luck to you all.
I just started getting the same exact symptoms about 2 weeks ago with increasing frequency. It is already driving me crazy. I was just diagnosed with possible Lyme disease so maybe they're related? My tick bite was on the same leg.
I too was searching on this very same symptom and stumbled on your responses.I have the same symptoms as the rest of you with the tingling/BURNING/numbness in hands and feet/muscle spasms.I can't seem to find any relief.I already stopped the medicine thinking that it would get better, but it hasn't.Wonder how long it takes the drug to rid from our bodies.I have no other health problems other than the hypertension. I had started with HCTZ but it did not control HBP.I was switched to HCTZ/Lisinopril 12.5 mg and added potassium. We all need to go back to our physician and switch to something else until we find the correct medicine. Thanks Everyone!
I was looking online for relief to these symptoms and it caught my eye that you take lisinopril and think the symptoms are related to that medication.
I also take that medication but not regularly and in my case i know its not the lisinopril. I am diabetic and believe my symptoms relate to diabetic neuropathy. Anyone experiencing the tingling burning sensation, if you are not already diabetic, you should do the necessary test to determine whether or not you are.
Still no relief from my symptoms though *sigh*
i was put on lisinopril in nov.08,and since then i've been having all kinds of problems.i get the numbness and tinggling in hands and feet, also get burning sensation in both areas and back and neck.talk to docs about problems they said it wasn't meds.talk to pharm.,and was told that the meds could be causing problems.looked up side effects of meds and found all of the problems i'm having listed under side effects by the company that makes it.
the list is so long that i couldn't write all of it.but have been to the er so many times that they just take me without all the procedures.i'm now admitted in the
hospital,someone is now listing to me.after taking meds,had heart palpatation,and burning and tinggling is worst.i have stomach pain,kidney trouble,head aches,back aches,and dizziness,fatigue,weigth loss,lips burning
and tinggling, all of which is listed in the medicine's maker list of side effects.
but doctors still don't want to except that this is the problem.i had none of these problems until i started taking these meds,i know all meds have some side effects, but this is happening to to many people ,to not take a close look at this med.the thig is,the docs get kick backs for pushing certain meds, regardless of what it does to those who are taking them.i'm getting off,and witching doctors, because we know our bodies better than them and if they won't listen to us,how can they treat us.meds isn't the answer to every problem that comes about, but if we listen to them,we be on meds the rest of our lives.
I have the tingling sensations in my feet it last for anything up to 3 minutes and it drives me batty. Have not found any relief apart from scratching them or the cold. The doctors can't diagnose it at all. Been to the podiatrist and
nothing has helped .still searching for answers . Have had this since i was 28 am now 52 and can't tolerate it anymore
