To Bandysarton,
Does your physician know you are taking your Wellbutrin in the way you described? If not, I suggest you discuss it with him or her. As a heath professional, I have never seen Wellbutrin prescribed like that! Wellbutrin is an anti-depressent, but it isn't a "quick fix" medication. It takes about 2 - 3 weeks to get a therapeutic dose in your bloodstream, and then it is best to keep it stable. You need to discuss with your dr. what you are taking, and come up with a proper dosage plan for you. Taking an extra Wellbutrin on an overwhelming day will have no effect what so ever on your day. However, taking more on some days, and less on others, may cause you to have ups and downs in your depression because you are changing the levels. You really should take it as prescribed, and then follow up with your doc if it is not effective.
I was on Prozac for about 4 years. I wanted to change to something else because I thought it wasnt working as well. My Doctor put me on Wellbutrin SR 150 mg 2 x a day. I stopped the prozac immediatly and started on the Wellbutrin, one tablet only for 4 days then the entire dose. My problem is that I am having extreme mood swings and a electical shock type feeling in my head when I turn my head or shift my eyes. I have been on the recommended dose for about 7 weeks now. Do you think I am having withdrawl from the Prozac or is that a normal side effect of Wellbutrin?
