240 mg? Youre out of your mind because you would be dead right now, and that goes for most of the people in this forum as well. The girl saying she weighs 96 lbs. and takes 50 mg/day would too have a heart attack. I have the most severe ADD you can have and have been on the stuff since 2nd grade (now 20 yrs. old and 175 lbs) and take 40 mg split in two 20 mg doses/day. Anymore than that and I would a.) die or b.) kill someone due to rage. Don't throw out these big numbers because youre simply a liar or you buy your meds off the street. The next amateur who wants to take adderall for his big friday night football game will take this much after reading this and end up six feet under, and it has happened.
DO NOT CALL ME A LIAR. If you do not believe me, that is YOUR problem, not mine. As I said, I do NOT buy these off the "street" They are legally prescribed to me by a licensed board certified physician here in the U.S.
I've had similar reactions from other know it alls like yourself on a couple of ADD forums so I simply don't bother to visit those sites anymore. They seem to have a LOT of people on there who THINK they know so much more than anyone else does. I've been called a liar more than once. Well, I've got news for you. I'm not lying. I have no reason to lie. I've been on this crap for over 8 years now. If you knew anything about drugs of this class, you would know that tolerances to the drug can and DO occur. Thus the need for a higher dose. Unfortunately, it isn't long before the new, higher dose becomes ineffective once again due to having built up a tolerance to the drug - same as before. And so the doctor will often prescribe yet a higher dose which once again quickly becomes ineffective and the cycle continues until - as in my case, the affected individual ends up being prescribed an almost imhuman amount of the drug. One would "think" there are grave consequences to taking such a high dose of adderall. And for many people, yes, that is very true. My body has built up a tolerance with each and every increase in the dosage. Not once have I had high blood pressure. It is ALWAYS in the normal range - even with this dosage of aderall I've been taking for so very long. Yes, it IS true. I am very healthy and that fact has been confirmed by several physicians over the years. Yes, I am concerned about my health and well being. Update: I am now down to 150mg/day and I plan to be off the drug very soon. I simply can no longer tolerate the many side effects this drug is capable of producing - especially at very high doses. They are not ones which have made me ill in any way BUT they have caused some things which were completely aviodable had I not been on the drug at all. For example - my teeth? Adderall is well known to produce "dry mouth" in people who take the drug. Well, I was not told about this. Yes, I found out eventually, but by then it was too late. My teeth are almost completely destroyed due to dry mouth. Sailva helps to reduce the bacteria in your mouth. On Adderall, less saliva is produced so the bacteria flourishes. And as a result, my teeth are no good. I will need to have about $60,000 of work done to restore my teeth - or so I've been told by several cosmetic dentists.
Next time, think before you judge others. You do not have the right to call me a liar. You do not have the right to judge me in any way at all. I honestly do NOT care about your opinions. They are meaningless to me. And you are obviously not very well educated in the areas of medicine and psychopharmacology. If you were, you never would have made those rufe, offensive remarks.
Now, go away...
I agree with you, I have also built up a tolerance for the drug. I am on 60 mg a day, and the longer I use this the more ineffective it becomes. I was on Ritalin before starting Adderal and I felt it helped me to concentrate more, however the tolerance was uncontrolable. Besides the high the dose with that drug, the more health issues developed. There is no need to judge any person critically on this forum. Only advice and positive feedback should be administered. We all have the same problem, and we come here to help each other. I'm sick of people (friends) judging me about taking Adderal. They call me a drug addicted because of all of the nasty press this drug gets in the media. For a lot of people though it helps, and some consider it a "miracle drug" in combating ADD, ADHD, I know I do. One other thing the dosage a person takes is dependant on their weight. Keep that in mind before judgment is passed.
