My mother is ninety-one and is on Toprol-XL and has been for almost two years now. She started having some vivid dreams about one of her boys running away (her children have been out of the house for 25 years now) and not coming home. We thought it was the beginning of Alzheimer's and are starting her on Aricept. Could any body help me with this. She has always been very healthy until her heart attack two years ago and has never liked to take medication. She keeps asking if it could be the medicine, but the doctors say," No, these medicines are good for you!"

I took Toprol-XL for about two years and had to discontinue use due to vivid dreams. The dreams were very vivid and caused me to sleepwalk at one time. That is when I quit taking the drug.

I have very bad dreams when I take Toprol at night. It happens every night if I take it at night before bed. Now I take it during the morning.

I took Toprol for 6-7 months and stopped it becuase of the VIVID dreams were very disturbing to me. The Toprol dreams were almost making me feel psychotic. I did not want to go to sleep. My doctor told me the dreams were a side effect of the Toprol, although it is a more unusal side effect. I stopped the medication nearly 2 years ago and I still have more dreaming than I used to before Toprol, but the dreams are not so disturbing.

I have taken Toprol (in the morning) for 3+ years and have horrid dreams that I know are from this drug. I work nights, 6 days in a row, and take Lunesta (or Ambien) to sleep during the day and I do not have the horrid dreams..only on my 8 days off when not taking Lunesta.

When I first started taking Toprol XL or when I was instructed to increase my dosage I would have vivid, not so pleasant dreams. But after a short time they stopped.
