I was on 30 mg of remeron for 7 months for depression. This drug is a nightmare! Severe cravings for sweets, and an unsatified hunger that nothing seemed to please me at night, munched about anything. I gained weight and slept through about anything at all. 3 months ago I developed a constant anger/rage feeling, and I was ready to take on anybody who crossed me. Sometimes I even became violent, I would break things, scream and yell at my BF for no reasons at all. BF left a few times, and friends stopped coming around. I felt like I was going insane. I would be happy one minute, and then either angry or sad and crying for no reason at all. I have started to ween myself off this drug for 8 weeks. I DO NOT recommend remeron.

I have been on remeron for about 2 months or so~I have been having HORRIBLE nightmares!!! I spoke to my doctor about this & he doesn't seem to be too concerned~well, when you wake UP having a panic attack...I think this is concerning, don't you? They are so real...I keep thinking I'm waking up in my dream & then I realize that I haven't been awake at all...it's extremely wierd...anyway, HOW DO YOU WEEN yourself off of this medication? I have been taking one every other night to start...what do I do from here? Please advise...thanks!

I for one didn't have any nightmares, but I did have a few panic attacks. Even though I have had my dose decreased, I still have a few once and a while.

It is VERY important that you consult your doctor or your pharmacist before changing your dose or stopping Remeron completely. It is not recommended to stop taking this drug all at once. STOP taking one every other night. Continue taking it as perscribed by your doctor UNTIL you seek prof. advice.

The change in your dose has to be atleast 10%, considering the amount in mgs and for how long you have been on Remeron. I advise you to speak with your doctor or to see your pharmacist as I did. The weening off does take a while, in my case 3 months, but it has been two weeks since my dose was modified and I feel much more refreshed when I wake up in the morning, my cravings of sweets have diminished, and I'm not as agitated, although I still feel the occasional anger/rage.

Good Luck

Wow! I have been taking Remeron oh I think for 2 years now and I started to have the same anger issues you mentioned. I told my doctor and he did not relate it to the remeron he put me on an anti anxiety drug. How do you go about weening off the drug? Thanks, MLN
