I am 41 and have taken Lipitor in a 20 mg dose and have the same problem with severe itching on my legs and arms. They started at night after taking my nightly dose and now is itching all day and night every day. I can not take it any longer, it has been two years. Before that I took Zocor which left me with a cronic cough as well as a breathing problem. I am not sure what to do, my doctor tells me she has never heard of it and I think does not believe me.
This is an interesting thread. I have been taking 10mg of Lipitor daily for a number of years now without any problem. I had heard that Grapefruit juice could cause problems, but I asked my doctor about occasional whole grapefruit, which I enjoy eating. He said in moderation, it should be OK. I gradually started to develop an itch on both legs, which I didn't initially connect with the timing of the grapefruit. Its gotten worse and now that i think back, started around the time I started eating a grapefruit every 2 or 3 days. After reading some of the threads related to Lipitor and Grapefruit, and how it can increase levels of Lipitor in the blood, I'm stopping the grapefruit and will monitor if that resolves my itching.
