My husband went on Lisinopril in Feb 07, his bp went down and was regulated his headaches almost left but then he had sinus surgery in mar or apr. He has now developed muscle twitching and now the "doctors" say he has Motor Neuron Disease.... I refuse to believe after reading everyone's side affects that this 41 year old with no family history of this other than 1/2 siblings with high bp that he has this disease. He has experienced neck stiffness like it is broken (had MRI) no broken bones or slipped disc, he has had the chills, hw has vision blurred issues, heaviness in his legs, left side of his body more prominent than the right, he has crazy dreams and thoughts, he feels like he is dying, he doesn't however have any coughs, he has anxiety which they put him on anti depressant. After reading others comment I researched this med, it was developed by venom in a poisonous Brazilian snake. My husband as a child would get bitten by wasps, fire ants etc.. they would rush him to ER for meds and he used to take shots if stung, swells up like a balloon. So in my theory this med has the snake bite affects and I believe this has caused him to have this neuron disease but I can't prove it. His muscles twitch all the time. I believe this drug has been slowly poisoning him to a eventually paralysis to death. I have begged the doctor to take him off. He has but now he is on Atenolol, which is not much better but has no snake venom or ACE inhibitors. Please people email me. I am desperate we need to band together. Thanks you Joann

I have been on Lisiniprol for at least maybe a year and it has been one year of pure hell which I just happened to come open this sight which I am so happy to have found because I have been have joint pain in my ankles so bad, cramps in my legs, insomnia or when I do go to sleep I have been dreaming very bad dreams. I also have had a stiff neck for weeks and headaches which I just can't get rid of.
I also have had very blurred vision and have been so irrititable that I can't stand myself. I cannot believe I have been seeing a rheumatologist and he has not been able to figure out what to do about my muscle soreness except to tell me that I have inflammatory arthritis. I have had tingling in my head, chest pains and just think I am also having part paralaysis in my face which I keep thinking I'm having a stroke. I have felt like I was going to die for the past 2 months I even wrote a living will. I took my medication tonight before I saw this sight but it is in the trash now. I have actually been so tired I have been falling asleep at the wheel of my car and not knowing why. I can't wait for tomorrow to get here so I see if I live through the night and see how I feel in a few days. I cannot believe that I am also going to a pain management clinic and getting epideral shots in my sciatic because my leg has been going to sleep on me. I have also been having terrible hot flashes thinking it has to be menopause as I am 48 but this is really wonderful to actually find out I am not crazy and if I live through this I would rather die of high blood pressure. Thank you for all your input I have to go wet my head as I am having a terrible hot flash again, I will write in a few days and let you know how I am doing if I can live through the night. Thank you again I am so disappointed in the Dr's and my mother is on the same medication and she has been showing the signs of a stroke especially the other day so now I need to call her to tell her to stop her medication.Who do we trust to put us on something that won't kill us. I would rather die of natural causes.

Linda

I think I have the answer to your husbands twitching! I to am on Lisinipril and hydrochlorothiaziade. I have had side effects of the medication, but they have been rather mild. I also have my blood regularly monitored. I also began to develop twitching very regularly and my doctor stated that he wanted to blood test me again as he informed me that these medications can reduce potassium and magnezeum levels in the blood, and the result can be that of twitching. Well, my magnezium did show up on the lower end of normal and so I began taking 400 milligrams of Magnezeum a day and the twitching has completely gone away! I believe this to be your issue!

I am sad to say it took me two and a half weeks to find this website. I have told three different doctors of my symtoms which are similar to all the above including the chills, neck stiffening (to the point of sometimes causing headaches) muscle tightness/twitching/heaviness (in all my skeletal muscles) I also however have something called (as they told me in ER) "urinary retention". For some reason, even though these symptons started shortly after taking this medication, none of my doctors (urologist, two different ER doctors or my PCP) thought that these symptons where caused by this drug! Why? After hearing everyohne having all these symptoms and learning about the origin of this drug (snake venom) why wouldn't these be causes of this drug and why would doctors completely ignore us? I am going to the FDA with this information. This drug should not be prescribed to anyone considering the risks or at least, people that try this drug should be closley monitored. I was on a different medication prior to going to this doctor and for no reason at all, he switched me...oh wait, the reason was that it was a cheaper drug then what I was on.

I am 50yrs old, in feb.07, I was diagnosed with MS. The MS has effected my hands and my arms, they have a numb feeling all the time. I have a very hard time using my hands, always in pain. I have been on copaxone shots once daily, this medicine doesn't stop the pain, it only helps my condition from progressing. I feel like a pin cushion.I went to my family doctor on Friday 9/21/07 was told I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and on the verg of becoming a diabetic, so to start off she put me on LISINOPRIL 5mg once a day. I have only been on this for four days and I am experiencing terrible headaches, neck pain, cramps in my ankles, lower back pain, I just feel like someone beat me and left me there to die. I feel lost and don't know what to do next. If this medicine LISINOPRIL is effecting me like this in only two days of being on it, I'm affraid to be put on something else with worse side effects. If you have advise please share with me. Thank You Lila

Thank you so much all for this website information. I have been put on atenolol and this has caused me a lot of side effect, but also at the same time I was on anti-depressants. Few days ago my BP has gone very high 183 over 102 so my Doctor prescribed me Lisinopril, it was only 5mg to start with. will see my doctor in 2 weeks time to see if I have any side effect. today is my second tablet, I was knocked out immediately feeling so lethargy and had to lie down for an hour or so, slept and just got up. Therefore, I am still new to this and will follow up any other side effects. I am abit concerned about the snake vernom ingredients used. cathy

i am 35 years old and i took lisinopril for ten days and i had a history of allergies when i was younger. I have been sick ever since the tenth day on the drug. I got off after ten days and have been coughing, and the feather tickle in my throat ever since. I am on Biaxin because i have lung and a throat infection. i have been off of it for about two weeks, my stomach doctor explained in detail the origination of the drug (snake venom). I am sick and have no energy. i barely can sit in a chair, i still cough all night, with no relief. If anyone has side effects off this medication they should stop immediately. I also have lost 16 pounds in 4 weeks. I need help also. My email is drycore@nefcom.net. help!!!!
