Hi Christy,
Here is my story. I am now 43 yrs old. I went on Yaz, lighter version of Yasmin, to help clear up my hormonally raged skin. My skin cleared up
quickly. I lost 8 pounds, periods were light. I felt good!
I noticed within a couple of weeks that I was losing more than normal amounts of hair. I took this up with my GYNE. She stated it was impossible. If anything, it would prevent hair loss. She was also taking Yaz and said her hair never was healthier. I kept taking it, and my hair kept falling out. I can't tell you how many times my husband had to clean out the shower drain. I would shake my hair out in the sink every time I passed it, and it would fall out like crazy. It was, and still is devastating. I continued to take it for six months. When I went off, it fell out even more. Which, I believe is the norm.
It continued falling out for six more months. Finally it seems it is tapering off. I Googled for hours and hours. It seems there are MANY other women who experience this. Check it out for yourself.
I am back to fighting off pimples...and wrinkles.
Hoping that I can grow back half of what fell out..
Good Luck.
PS.
My daughter is on Yasmin for PCOS.
Has never had a problem, Thank God.
I guess it all depends on our bodies chemistry.
I too was on Yasmin. One month of being on this bc pill I started loosing alot of hair. Everyone constantly asked if I had gotten my hair cut. I went from having very long layered hair to shoulder length hair with alot shorter layers. My hair dresser of 15 years said something is terribly wrong and you should really go have this checked. So I went to my dr with pics so he could see the difference and he tested me with all sorts of hormonal tests. All came out fine, so from there I went to a dermatologist. I came across this forum and saw that other women taking yasmin had the same problem. I asked my dr if it could be from that and he said no, well now I think he was wrong. I had switched bc pills about 4 months after taking yasmin, but I'm not sure if all bc are causing the hair loss. Maybe I should go off the pill completely. Any thoughts on that? Do you think my hair will get back to normal if I quit taking it completely?
