I have had the same serious of same side effects as everyone listed in this site. Tiredness is the BIG one - Mostly to not being able to sleep...Timing is perfect with taking this Drug. i necver had this problem before. I feel great in the morning untill about and hour later after popping the pill and the rest of the day is a struggle. Doc' put me on Provigil (speed) to keep me going. Some days that doesn't even work. it's only been lately i have put two and two together and blame it on the Lisinopril. Question? Anyone switch Med's and had beter results? If so which one?? Thanks Rich

Very interesting. I just happened upon this site a couple of days ago and have been monitoring the goings-on and just reviewed your post today. I've been on Lisinipril for 21 years and it has really kept my BP in check. However, over the past few years, fatigue has gotten ridiculous. All my blood work always checks out OK, I've gone off Cholesterol medicine for months with no change in fatigue. Never thought to go off Lisinopril (I've been on 40 mg for years)

Ironically, after looking at Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as the only answer, I tried Cymbalta and that worked for about 3 months - and then right back to major fatigue. The doc put me on Provigil, but after a week of that, I'm more alert and my heart pounds like crazy, but I'm just as tired.

So, after seeing all the posts here, just today, I'm starting to wean back on Lisinopril. I'm going to cut back to 20mg for a bit and take it at night (I always took it in the morning and felt the same as you after I took it). If I feel more alert, I'm going back to my doc and see about a different BP medicine. I'll keep you posted, and please do as well. Thanks for the post.

I stopped taking this posion on monday, I was on hyzaar 100 before and really had no side effects, went to lisinopril because it was so posed to be the generic equivalent.my side effects are it did not work for bp for me, also high anxiety attacks, waking up at 3am and thinking the world was collapsing, swelling of glands in throat, poor vision. I wonder how long these side effects will last. DL

Gil
I've been experiencing a lot of tiredness, and it may be the lisinopril which I've been taking for almost three years. I started out on 40 mg./day;
After retiring from a position in which I was persecuted because I was a man and a minority white(this lasted for 18 years), I found that my lisinopril could be reduced to 10mg. two times a day--or half the original amount neeed.
About three years ago I started having headaches; I had my BP checked and found out it was running 170 or higher over a higher than normal diastolic pressure. In the past 4 months or so, I've been experiencing a lot of fatigue, coupled with needing to sleep a lot more than normal. At the same time, I am being treated with an iron supplement for anemia. So it's hard to know how much the lisinopril is doing to contribute to my fatigue. Thank you for sharing your posts. I'll be checking soon with my doctor about changing RX's for the BP.
Inderol may be a better choice, by the way. My 88 year old mother could not handle lisinopril, nor could her 86 year old friend. My mom had a horrible cough from it, and her friend became dizzy and light-headed within 30 to 60 seconds after taking the lisinopril. Lisinopril is made from the venom of a brazilian snake.
