Hi. I just wanted to let everyone know what has happened since I stopped taking Yasmin 4 days ago. (I only took it for 2 months.) I'm still having heart palpitations, feeling of a lump in my chest, and still a bit dizzy at times. My ears kind of feel like when I'm on an airplane coming in for a landing when the dizziness comes around. I'm also still having an occasional urge to cough. I still have shortness of breath and it's very noticeable when I'm talking and saying a long sentence. I thought the symptoms would really decrease but it seems to come and go. I feel the palpitations more frequently during the evening hours. I don't know why that is though. All of this makes it really hard to concentrate a work. I was reading one blog that said to take extra magnesium and zinc. Has anyone tried that and is it effective?

I also had a horrible experience with Yaz.My symptoms only seemed to appear within my third month of being on the birth control. Previously I was on ortho tricylcen for about 7 years and never had any side effect. I only switched to Yaz because my insurance was no longer covering ortho. On Yaz, I was having the most unbelievable anxiety attacks (something I had never experienced in the past), heart palpitations to the point that I thought I was having a heart attack and several times considered calling an ambulance. I was having one sleepless night after the other and couldn't function anymore on a normal level (had to call in sick to work a couple of times just to try to get myself together, which never seemed to happen, even after a day of attempted rest). I was having shortness of breath with the simplest tasks, such as climbing one flight of stairs. I was constantly anxious, thinking that I was losing my mind and dying of something terrible. Only a couple of days ago did I put it together that it was the Yaz. I've been off of it now for three days now and have started taking magnesium supplements (Yaz is a diuretic and people on diuretics need more magnesium than the average person; did anyone's doctor bother to tell them that? mine didn't), and I must say I feel so much better and myself again. It's unbelievable that a drug like this is on the market. I feel like I was ingesting a little poison pill every day for the past four months. I'm glad I figured out the cause and I suggest that anyone experiencing these side effects get off this pill immediately. Don't finish out your cycle (as my doctor advised), just stop taking the pills. You will be back to yourself in no time (I think the magnesium supplements help you recover faster because they're supposed to aid in heart function and nervous disorders, things that Yaz screws up). Hope this helps anyone who had the misfortune of going through this.
