I took the horrible drug for five weeks. I have been to the doctor 3 times. They gave me anti-biotics and said I had brochitis. I have a terrible sounding cough and mucus, I missed over two weeks of work and sent alot of money on medicine. I stopped taking Lisinopril 10 days ago, I feel better but not 100%. My doctor says that if will take a while for the cough to go away. I so mad because I really believed I was dying and took chest x-rays and a TB test. My boyfriend has been giving my dirty looks, and guess he think he going to catch somethimg This medicine has ruined my summer and my vacation, because I'm afraid that I will gave a coughing attack so I stay close to home or if I do go out I keep cough drops and cough syrup in my purse. I feel like a drug addict.

I can't believe it! I have been poisoning myself with Lisinopril for 6 months. I thought I was dying as nothing worked and I continued to get worse. I had a Cat Scan, chest x-ray, and many blood tests. The Cat Scan and the chest xray were clear. The blood test showed no bacteria and a slight sign of allergy. Of course I have never been allergic to anything in my life. I was treated with 3 courses of different antibiotics, predisone, and cortesone nasal spray. Even Codene cough syrup did no good. The coughing attacks were so bad that I actually thought I was going to vomit. My side got so sore from coughing that I could barely breath without pain pills. I went to a specialist for nose and throat and he treated me with an over the counter antacid pill. I did no good. The only pill I was taking was Lysinopril so I stopped taking it for one week and for the first time in 6 months I was getting better. Then my sister in law died and I knew I needed a blood pressure medicine for that one day. I took Lisinopril for just one day and all my symptoms came back immediately. That is when I looked on the computer and found you and several others with the same exact symptoms and experiences. I AM SO MAD. I have lost 6 months out of my life and unbelievable suffering for my husband and me. We could not go anywhere, or do anything because of the coughing attacks. I am ready to sue this drug company as they don't mention anything about this side effect on their drug description. Obviously, the doctors don't know anything about it. I wonder how many millions of people are out there suffering and having the same horrible side effects from this drug. It is basically what feels like a bad cold in the beginning with congestion and cough. It gets worse and will not go away. You go to see various doctors and you do not respond to any of their treatments. Your body is losing and you think you are going to die. It is JUST THIS HORRIBLE PILL!!!!!

Please try raw apple cidar vingar. 2 tbls twice a day. mix with juice and drink fast. I stoped taking lisinopril 3 weeks ago. I went from 170/110 to 80/130. The low BP is whats causing your legs and arms to fall asleep. The ACV will make you feel great Bragg is a good name brand to get. If you can google "apple cidar vingar cures" You will be amazed !

omg, i read your note with horror. I just took myself off of it today. About 10 days ago, I started with 1/2 a pill...my doctor said i might still have the cough and it was right. The issue is I was told it might be a mild dry cough, but it isn't. I have at least 5 major coughing spells a day...and it is annoying everyone around me. I think they think I am faking this. I would not recommend it...although I must say, i did take it for borderline high blood pressure, and since the first day i took it, my bp has been running 110-115/68-72. So in that respect, it did the job. But I know there has to be a better med for me.

About a year ago I moved back east from the midwest. I had been on
lotensin for high blood pressure. When I found a new doctor here he
took me off lotensin and put me on lysinopril. I thought I had pneumonia after taking it for 6 mos. Had x-rays etc. and they were clear. Then I
was told I had a sinus infection or maybe allergies. Anyway, I took antibiotics.....still coughing. I am convinced it's the med and am calling
the doctor on Monday and asking for a switch to something else. I've
also experienced the following....always cold and always tired. My blood
work found nothing wrong!

Hi, I notice that your message was posted a while ago, but the same symptoms that you had, I have. I took the Lisinopril for almost two years, and after a while, my throat got so sore that I could hardly breathe, especially when I first wake up and when I breathe in deeply. I recently told the doctor, and he took me off of the drug a month and a week ago, but my throat is still very sore and I still cough, especially when I breath in or begin to speak. I hope that this medicine has not done permanent damage to my throat and respiratory system. How are you now.
