Hi, I have also gained weight (20lbs) over the past two years and I want to quit this medication. I have not felt like myself in the entire two years I've been on it, and I'm tired of being tired. I've also had other possible side effects that are growing worse over time, and I honestly believe this medication is the reason. I'm not terribly overweight, but trying to lose a pound on this medication is next to impossible. I've read other people's posts here who have said the same thing.
Everything I've ever read mentions how dangerous it may be to quit suddenly because of a 'rebound effect' that can actually cause a heart-attack. You might research this so you can better understand it. I plan on going to my doctor and trying to gradually reduce my dose, just a little at a time, if possible.
As far a stopping it on your own, apparently its just not safe to do that. You might get lucky and get through it okay, but I'd be afraid of it being too risky. Perhaps your doctor will listen and actually help you get off of it, if possible...whatever you decide, Good Luck and take care.
