I've been on this druge for 5 days (for a UTI) and I am also having the bloating, constipation issues...now I'm pretty sure it's the drug. Luckily I was only supposed to be on it for 7 days, so I'll call my dr. tomorrow and see if I can stop taking it. Thanks for your posting. Hope you feel better soon.

I've been on sulfameth for 6 days and have severe constipation. The discomfort is as bad as I've ever had. I've also had hand cramps and twitching muscles in my arms. I've started to take a Potassium supplement which in the past has helped to reduce cramps. I only have one more day of medicine so I expect things to get better soon after that.

Hi- I got this med for UTI and so far only problem is I can't make a bowel movement. Have taken the laxatives and they still haven't worked. I got the 2 pills a day for 3 days and have just one left to take this evening- and then I'll be done with them. I feel like a big fat blob that 's going to explode with "stuff" and don't want that to happen anywhere but at home. This is a reasonably good med for me since it has knocked out the UTI quickly, but I just can't eliminate. Good luck to others who take it. I'm on sulfamethoxazole-TMP DS.
The label says it's a substitute for bactrim -insurance won't pay for brand names and this is what I got. It's done ok except for the constipation.
