My son is 25 and he started takng Guaifenex back in June for sinus infection. Since then he has been to emergency room 3 times and in the hospital twice--complains of pressure in upper jaw, chest tightness, and has chilling sensation along spine. Also his left side feels funny and he has been diagnosed with panic attacks and the doctor wants him to have a phsyc examination--he's not crazy just wants these wierd symptoms to go away. Has anyone had any long term affects after taking this drug?

I was taken this medication for my sinus infection also along with an antibotic. I felt very odd when I took this medication - I experienced a feeling of hyperness. I found out that this medication caused my heart to speed up, causing me to have an anxiety attack. I have been advised not take this medication anymore by my physician.

I am very sorry that this has happen. Your son must get the drug out of his body. One of the side effects of this drug is anxiety. Which is a Genralized term used for panic attacks, depression and many other mental ailments. The drug is still in his body and he must detox to rid his body of this medication which is bascially poisoning his body. Causing these symptoms. Please note I am not a doctor nor any medical care giver. I am only a independent researcher. Here are the names of to medical care providers that can help you.
