This is really a horrible drug. I have been on it for about 5 years now for BP and anxiety. Now trying to come off of it and experiencing some bad side effects and it's scaring me.
Has anyone successfully come off the toprol? How long do the side effects of coming off it last?
I am also 29 and have been taking this med. for 5 years. I take it for moderate mitral valve regurgitation. (mitral valve prolapse). From the beginning, I had side effects of weight gain and feeling very tired. I want to sleep all the time now and in the past I was an insomniac. I've gained over 80 pounds and can not lose it. I eat right and even joined a gym and worked out for a year. I am still gaining and I hate myself for it. Doctors tell me it's not the toprol. I also have tingling in my hands and feet. Before taking toprol I was having panic attacks with rapid heart rate. It has helped trememdously but the weight gain is unreal!!!! Would love to hear of an alternative to toprol.
