58 years old male with atrial fibrillation. 2 years taking 7mg of warfarin and several months ago began getting an itchy purplish rash on my lower legs. Very annoying and I often scratch my skin until bloody. Seems to be getting worse.... wife says it's better than a stroke.... I guess so, maybe.

I am 48 and have been on 7mg Warfarin for around 18 months. Almost died from a PE (they said another hour and it would have been too late as my oxogen level had fallen way low. Found my family history to be more about clot problems then heart attacks and strokes as I tested positive for a genetic disorder in addition to protein S and C deficiency. A few months ago i started developing a purple rash below my knees that itches badly ( i also itch all over occasionally) . I get dizzy often when i stand up quick. However my doc thinks that is related to blood presure meds. I do have a positive side effect (trying to be positive here). I have no craving for sweets. However i do crave protein like meat, eggs, cheese. Kind of strange. I have also gain weight. But partially think that is related to a reduction to my execise routine. My wife also is happy to have me around and without blood thinners i know i would be toast. So, i am doing the best I can and trying to enjoy each day. I am thankful for warfarin and thankful to be alive.
