Yasmin Shoulder length hair, hair cuts, hair back, long hair

Posted at 6:59 AM on Sep 05, 2007 by lori21664, #23402

Hi, I was on yasmine for 4 months then switched to ortho tri lo. A month arfter taking yasmine I started loosing large amounts of hair. I had long hair with long layers down my back and now I have extremely short layers and shoulder length hair without ANY hair cuts. I came across this site and see that alot of people on yasmine has had the same problem.

I'm going off all birth control to see if i can get my hair back to normal. has anyone had any luck regrowing there hair?

The pill has caused your body and your hair to go into an abnormal resting phase and can last about 6 months of hair falling out before regrowth. My hair has been falling out for months, just noticed more so a little over a month ago. Since stopping the pill, the hair does not fall out in clumps, however, it still falls out. My hair seems to be doing better and seems to be healthy...to the point it should start growing. I was told roughly up to 6 months it can fall out.

Thank you for your reply. I have one other question. How did you handle this situation mentally? With my hair changing so drastically it has made me feel really down and unattractive. All though I still have hair, its alot shorter and not to my liking.I'm worried about it getting worse before it gets better. Its not like i can say I had a bad haircut and in a few months it will grow. I'm sure regrowth can take years to actually see and thickness will not come back over night. It's a very depressing situation and wish I had never gone on the pill. I'm 43 and single. I stay in good shape and look good for my age, but with my hair doing what its doing I can't really enjoy this phase of my life. I would appreciate any insight.

I discontinued Yasmin in March, 07. My hair started thinning out, but I just now started realizing how much. My front hairline is so thin you can see my scalp, and I've probably lost about 50% of my hair volume. The hair I have left has no body and won't hold a style. I just made the connection to Yasmin. Will it regrow - and when???

I had the same problem with Yasmin - besides experiencing a lot of the side effects mentioned in this website, the worst was hair loss. My hair is half what it used to be. I have been taking Yasmin for 1.5 years now and the hair loss started 2-3 months after starting it. I'm devastated. I've only just made the connection to Yasmin and will stop taking it immediately. Have any of you experience the same? And will it grow back?

I also have half the hair I used to. I looked at a pic from 1 year ago and started to cry. I stopped YAZ yesterday when I found this site. I would have never known it was the bc if I hadnt skipped two periods and gotten a negative result on a pregnancy test. I hate doctors and pharmacutical companies! I will never trust either again.

After being off the pill for 5 months I finally am seeing my hair get a little thicker. Some area's still seem thin, but I am hoping in time it will get better. I am seeing some regrowth, but Im guessing it will take years for my hair to get back to the length it was. It's a hard situation to go through.

I am composing an article on the side effects that occur when you stop taking the pill, which MOST women are unaware of. I too have suffered in the form of irregular menstrual cycle. I would greatly love to interview anyone of the people that replied and hear your story. Please contact me at 786-239-8751 ASAP. I have a deadline to meet. Thanks.

You could also email me at gator924@ufl.edu or talk to me through AIM the sn is lipsfullbittin.
