All bp meds cause weight gain. Some worse than others. They slow you down and plump you up. No pleasant side effects from bp meds. They should be outlawed.
Hello, I think if you go to the toprol xl posts, you will find that weight gain absolutely goes with this class of medication. I have been on toprol xl for over two years, have gained @20 lbs., and can't lose an pound to save my life. Another thing I've noticed from experience and from reading here...many doctors do not seem to even be aware of the weight gain concern.
Common sense dictates that if a person is put on a medication that may make them tired, weight gain is a possibility, if not a probability. If you get this message and have time, I would recommend looking at the toprolxl posts (it is closely related to what you take), you may learn something that might help you in some way...I wish you well.
