PEOPLE, PLEASE DO NOT DISCONTINUE THIS MEDICATION SUDDENLY, IT CA...

I recently spoke to my cardiologist who suggested I start taking a 1/2 tab in October and see him again in January. I would hope he knows what he is doing. I will touch base with him again before October just to go over these instructions. I am an RN and from what I know I think it depends ho long you have been on the drug. He also mentioned that he generally puts patients on it for 6 months and this usually takes care of the arrhythmia. However, I will check again. Thanks for the warning.

i have been taking this drug for 2 years in 25 mg dose for arrhythmia. I have mild case of mitral valve prolapse. Since taking it I don't feel the arrhythmias or palpitations, however I feel a lot of side effects, ie leg cramping, muscle pains, tiredness, depression, weight gain, bloating, a lot of sleepless nights, ringing in the ear and sometimes a quick sharp pain in my chest. I didn't realize this might be side effects from this drug til i read all the comments on this site. i'm wondering if i should stop taking this 25 mg which my doctor has me taking a 50mg toprol xl and cutting it in half, after reading all this comments it seems the way i have been feeling is the standard side effects almost everyone feels from this drug. i think i felt better when i just had the one symptom of feeling the irregular heart beats.

I must reply to this message posted: I am a Toprol xl junkie been on the stuff for over 4 years now, also on diovan daily - b.p has been down (Thank God) I have had so meny unwanted and harsh painfull side effects , that its hard to keep on this junk. my job is hanging by a thread! its hard to drive on this crap
and I have been threw 4 doctors in my Hmo plan. and have begged to get off the Toprol xl or switch to another medication , all times iv been refused flat out No !!! even been to the E.R three times for help! it gets so bad. im living in Hell ! on earth - I have tryed myself to get off the medication twice now , by weening slow. To be totaly Honest ! the Withdrawal symptoms are Harsh! and hard to take and go threw them , both times I ended up back on the Toprol xl and Diovan again. what a choice! live or take a chance of death ! If your planning on getting off the junk ! please see your Doctor first ,if he wont help keep looking and dont give up! you will find one that will help you.. they are out there somewhere! took me 4 doctors
and 4years to find one.. and now im only 50% sure she will help me?
as im in a Hmo plan. so resorces are limited . also watch out for the new
Toprol xl Generic drug.. its a bad drug ! rushed released and has problems read online lots of people upset and sick from the new generic drug just released.
