I have been using MiraLax for 3 months now. It has helped me tremendiously with my constipation however I have had horriable gas and bloating I have gained 10 pounds. I am a regular exerciser and weight liftter (toning mostly) . I could not figure how I gained the extra weight. I hav'nt done or taken anything different except taking the MiraLax. I was told it did not make you gain weight or give you gas. Maybe all the studies are not out yet. I don't know but I need to get this weight off fast. Could it be water weight?? from miralax? Please if anyone who has used Miralax or a doctor who has had this problem help. I hate to quit taking Miralax because it really helps me. It has been the best thing I have used in years. I would love anyone to comment or offer advice.

I don't have any answers for you...but I am having the same exact reaction...I was told Miralax wasn't even absorbed into your system so I don't know how it could tinker with metabolism, etc...but I too have gained about 8 lbs. with no other reason, no change in diet, etc. Very frustrating as this product has really been helping me...may stop using it to see if weight comes off.

I don't have any answers, but I too have gained weight, about 8 lbs. since starting miralax. Can't figure this out as it's not even supposed to be absorbed into your system so how can it tinker with metabolism? I may stop taking it and see if weight comes off.

I have also noticed some weight gain after using miralax. I am very health concious and watch what I eat. The only difference in my diet has been the use of miralax. I hate to stop using it also because it really does help. If anyone hears anything about this please let me know.

Wow..I too am having problems with about a 7 lb gain and couldn't for the life of me figure it out. I started taking Miralax in April and that is the only thing I could contribute it too.
I work out and I have previously lost 70 lbs so I'm very good at knowing how and what to eat.
Looks like I need to discuss stopping the Miralax with my doctor.

Taking Miralax had the same effects on my body as it did yours. My abdomen was so extended I could not fit into my pants. Moving was uncomfortable. I stopped taking miralax after 12 days of this discomfort and weight gain and replaced it with a natural colon formula (vegetarian capsules) made by Natural Balance, called Colon Clenz. You can purchase it on-line at Vitacost.com or at Clarks Nutrition stores. I know everybody is different and we have to do what works best with our system. Perhaps this might be a choice for you and others reading this post. The best advice anyone can give another is to lsten to your body, if you don't know how, the present is an excellent time to begin.

Hope this proves helpful...Be well!

I too have gained over 5 lbs within 2 weeks of using Miralax. Worse yet, I have severe bloating and gas to go along with the weight gain. I almost look as though I'm pregnant. Last time I tried Miralax, I experienced these same side effects, but I decided I'd give it another try. I am going to discontinue use once again... I should mention that last time I quit taking Miralax the weight came right off. Let's hope for the same result this time.

I've been on Miralax for a couple of weeks, and have gained about 4 pounds -- I know my eating habits haven't changed, so it sounds like I'm experiencing the same side effects as others here. It has worked well for me otherwise, so I hope to find some other solution to my constipation problem!

I have been taking Miralax since late spring and I have marked weight gain. I thought it was another medication I'm taking, but now that I'm weaning off the other I still have abdomen and stomach bloating and weight gain.
