I was put on a 5-day dose of Levaquin, and am on my 4th day. After the first dose, I started to get severe itching and pain in my vaginal area. I know it's a yeast infection because I had it once before. I have also had really bad insomnia for the past two days. Called my doc; she told me to continue the medicine and perscribed Diflucan and monistat 3-day. She also said to take Benadryl for itching, but I am feeling really tired already, and I think the Benadryl would just make it worse. I am very tempted to stop taking this med right now, but not sure if it's ok to do that. Has anyone else gotten a yeast infection from this? Thanks, and I hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

I just posted my experience with levaquin. I forgot to mention that for a couple of days I thought I was getting a yeast infection (a little burning). I even mentioned it to my husband. It went away, but I think it was actually some irritation due to vaginal dryness from the meds.

I too have had the itching problem and resultant yeast infections, and get them whenever I take any antibiotic-type course of medication, like penicillin, diflucan, etc. My doctor told me this is quite common, and that I should take Acidophilus (a vitamin) two or three times a day as well as eat plenty of yogurt (any flavor, just make sure it has the live active cultures in it). I am to do this whenever taking any type of antibiotic, and especially if I develop a yeast infection. I've been doing this, and it has wiped out my yeast problems 100%. I recommend this course of action, and good luck!

I just replied to someone else's posting today regarding levaquin. This is a very dangerous medication and you may have a condition called floxing. The symptoms you're describing are some of the side effects. Please go to this website immediately!!!

Since taking this drug I have developed acid reflex. I take the meds and my bladder starts to burn. It seems to have set off a constant inflammation round robin for me. No one has any answers and I remain in so much pain. It has prevented me from so much in life. I'm exhausted going from doctor to doctor for help and no one will agree it's from this antib. I am seeing an acupuncturist now who is helping, but it's not anywhere near what I was before taking it. Has anyone else ran into the catch 22 of acid reflex, take the medication and end up with your bladder on fire?
