I have already responded to two other people regarding these medications. You were taking a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. I strongly urge you to check out this website immediately!!!

I stumbled upon this website when I was researching on my own, trying to find out what was wrong with me.
I a similar reaction to Avelox. I was in the hospital for a foot infection. After the second or third dose of intravenous avelox I awoke in the middle of the night. My heart was pounding, my arms were too heavy to lift, my breathing was very very rapid. The nurses surrounded me and took my blood pressure. The look on their faces said it all. I spent the rest of the night getting a multitude of tests. I remember being very disoriented - the ceiling tiles looked like they were moving, when they wheeled me into the cardiac unit I swore I was wheeled past 6 beds. In the morning I saw there was only 1 other patient in the room.
They claimed it was a panic attack but I know for sure it was not. The nurses told me that they had seen similar symptoms in patients on Avelox but the doctors would not admit that.
The doctor did, however, decide that I should no longer be on Avelox. The racing heart would wake me up many times after that. One time I ended up in the emergency room. Over time the symptoms diminished but it did take time.
I read on another site that you should not have anything with caffiene in it when on Avelox. I was never told that and I did have coffee with my dinner the night I had the first reaction.
I would never ever take Avelox again.
Good luck to you.
