I've been on Diovan for about 9 months and I have all of the side effects everyone else here has mentioned! Weight gain, bloating, fatigue, mood swings, extreme muscle aches- especially in my lower back and legs, hunger, and more! These Drs. are sooo stupid!!!! They tell us to lose weight and then give all of us medications that cause weight gain. I am also diabetic and my Dr. also has me take Humalog insulin- which also causes weight gain! I would enjoy hearing from everyone who has had side effects from Diovan, and I would like to hear about alternative remedies for hypertension. Good luck and Best Wishes to all of you....Kim Q.

Hi, was reading your post as I have been doing some research to try and find out what is really wrong with me. In Sept.23, 2004 "3 years ago today"I had a stent put in my heart, quit smoking, started walking to keep from gaining weight, and was doing good for a few months. Then started having trouble with blood pressure, so I was put on Diovan about Nov. 2004 Then my legs started giving me all kinds of trouble. Aches, Pains. And it has just been downhill, since. I have been Diagnosed with Osteo-Arth.- Rheumatoid Arth. And Fibromyalgia. Had to quit working In August of 06 But I just feel like something else is going on. I am miserable.Somedays can barely walk, very hard to get up from a sitting position,or from the toilet. And the weight continues to pack on. The medication Lyrica, that I take has the side effect of weight gain,so I have quit it now for 1 week. And I can't tell any difference in my muscles aches. But not one of my Drs. have ever mentioned any side effects of Diovan. It almost makes sense to me now, since most of the aches and muscle problems and headaches began about the same time I started on the Diovan.Anyway I have a Drs. appointment this coming week and I will be talking with the Dr. and the Rheumatologist also. This has been a long miserable time , if it is the Diovan!!! Luck to all of you.

I have been on Diovan for 3 years now and I have gone from 140lbs to 170 lbs. I could starve myself and run a marathon and I still won't lsoe a pound. I am calling my doc today to see about getting me off of this stuff. Good Luck and keep in touch.

OMG yes I have all those symptoms and more. I have all of a sudden low blood sugar. I have gained 25 pounds in two months and my blood pressure keeps going up according to the doctors. Isn't Diovan suppose to lower it ? I sure would like to know if anyone else has suffered with low blood sugar from taking this medication. I started to take Vitamin C, E and B complex , been on that for one week and I feel better. I have read that Diovan will take all those plus others vitamins from your body. These by the way help restore the metabolism of blood levels .

The Diovan that is the larger gray tablets made me pack on 10 pounds in a month and bloated my face, feet, etc. The doctor switched me back to Diovan HCT 160/12.5 MG (the light rust color tablets) and the bloating (and weight went away in about a month). Try that.

Kim, I am not tolerating this medication well. Have been on it for three weeks. Have you found any alternatives? I hate to think about having to feel this way forever.

Hi Kim...Have you found a good alternative to the Diovan? I have tried Toprol, Lisinopril (sp?), Verapamil...they all caused severe rash and the Verapamil was very constipating. Diovan is making my heart beat fast and hard and I feel anxious.

I need to find a medication that I can take until I get my weight and exercise acceptable. Thanks!

Sue
