Hello, I read about how YAZ birth control pill affects the body and psych and I am now scared. This is my 2nd day of YAZ (I've never been on birth control pills ever and I am 27 years old), it's all new to me but after reading all these negative posts about Yaz I don't know what to do. Before the birth control pills, I was depressed, annoying, serious weight problems - 210 lbs :~~((, low energy, low libido, always tired, terrible migraines every 2nd day, ridiculously increased appetite and excessive hunger, hair where it shouldn't be, menstrual blood clots, excessive cramping etc I have all these problems for 3 years now and now that the family doc. put me on YAZ birth control pill I am even more scared - mainly of more weight gain, it would be a tragedy for me, I am fat enough already and what's worse I can't lose the weight, exercise doesn't help, diet doesn't help, NOTHING. Will YAZ birth control pill worsen my already tragic condition? I just don't know what to do and what to believe ... I appreciate any advice or help you can give me ... Thank You to all!

HI-I am on day 9 of my YAZ and so far evrything is going fine. The only thing I have noticed is I am a little more tired and have less of an apetite. I think the most important thing to remember is that we all react differently to medications-some are more sensitive than others to different hormones so I would suggest that you give it 3 months(which is what I plan to do) and then decide.

To be honest I do not feel any concerning side affects yet, I am in my 7th day of YAZ and it works for me. It cut some of my increased appetite - I lost like 4 kg, I don't retain that much water anymore and I have an increased sexual drive ... I'll just wait and see what happens after 3 months too and only then I'll decide with my Doc. if YAZ is good for my health.
Thank You for your encouraging thoughts - helps a lot to have some positive support. I wish you good luck and all the best. Keep me posted if you experience any drastic changes, I'll do the same.
Take care.

i am the same way with my hormones im 29 too, and i take wellbutrin rather than yaz because i found that the hormonal problum was pmdd! Look into it and request it instead of yaz!

I can't take Wellbutrin because of some kind of regulations they have for military spouses. If it was over the counter I'd run right now to the pharmacy to buy it but .... still, if I'd take this drug which mostly helps relieve major depression it would complicate a lot a things for me and my husband. For now YAZ is okay but thanks for the good advice.

Most of the people who had problems seem to have no problems before hand so I wouldn't sweat it. I have PMDD and am already on antidepressants for post partum depression which doesn't help my PMDD so keep your head up, take it for a couple of months and see what happeneds. Like someone already said everyone reacts differently to meds.

I need to know if Yasmin is right for me.. I wanted Yaz but my doctor gave me Yasmin. I went on it the birth control for prevent acne, moodiness, headaches, and any weight gains. My question is which birth control is better to prevent these things.. Yaz or Yasmin ?

YAZ DOES MAKE YOUR SEX DRIVE GO AWAY. I have been on it for 4 months and I have had the worse side effects. I have been angry and mad and then sad. I feel bi polar and it really is hurting my relationship. My b/f and I have having a lot of problems because of my attitude it has changed and the sex is not there anymore. I really would not take this birth control if I were you. It should be taken off the market for what it is doing to women!

Well, my symptoms were also similar to many of you gals initially when I started taking yaz birth control pills (which I ordered from http://www.mybirthcontrolstore.com on my friend's recommendation) but to the lesser extent. In my view these are initial symptoms or side effects of using Yaz but they go off gradually as our body becomes accustomed to this pill.

I found Yaz effective in giving me shorter, lighter and regular periods. It also relieve me from PMS like sever cramps. I also do not get "mood change" or frustration from Yaz while I experienced this when I was on Yasmin. I'm not finding any much changes in the weight.

I was taking yaz for a few months when I developed a horrible side pain that sent me to the ER. I had multiple blood clots in both lungs and the doctors said it was from the pill. They said I was very lucky I got there when I did because I would have died, others have. I was in the hospital for a week and on meds for 6 months with about 30 doctor visits because of this. I was healthy until this happened but of course the yaz company will not take any responsibility for this. I was just talking to a friend and a woman that she works with daughter recently died from this at 26 years old. If you are having problems please quit taking this.

i have been taking YAZ for 2 months since i skipped the second month cause my face was breaking out and i had headaches. I also noticed that i can't stop eating and almost felt pregnant w/ the eating and nausea but never threw up. I also feel down and out and now the wt gain is bothering me. I am currently switching to LOESTRIN 24 which i have been told is great and my boyfriends sister has been on it for about 4 months and likes it. I was on Ortho tri-cyclen prior for years and i was told to switch or it wouldn't be as effective. I was also sick on the ortho but the YAZ isn't for me!

this is a guy posting on what i see it did to my g/f. she has been on it for a little more than 2 months. 17 years old she is. about last week she just snapped... and everything went down hill. she is extremely sad now, not happy, and doesnt want to do anything with me. between us everythign was great, we were having no problems. now she is the excact opposite. even her friends told me she isnt herself anymore. i asked my sister and other girls if they had any other birth controls or if this has happened to them. they did say it happened and it affects you like that. my gf and i are really close, and now we are just seperating. i told her i think its her birth control, but she told me its not. her 2 best friends that know her as well as i do told me it is it.
i noticed yaz isnt for her either, i just dont know how to convince her before everything is to late :(.

From everything I have read on boards about Yaz, for people who do NOT have PMDD, it seems to cause the exact symptoms of PMDD: Severe mood swings, loss of interest in sex, migraines, muscle aches and pains, nausea, insatiable appetite (particularly for carbs), extreme lethargy, etc.

I had all of these symptoms for over a year while not on Yaz. I was diagnosed with PMDD, and the cravings, nausea, intense mood swings and migraines went away within days. My doctor put me on Wellbutrin to deal with the lethargy, and within weeks I felt like my old self again--my husband said my sense of humor even returned :-)

From what I have read here and on other boards, if you are fine and do not have PMDD when you start birth control, take something other than Yaz. If you have PMDD, Yaz may be the thing for you, but Wellbutrin in addition might help even more.

(Side note: My doctor first put me on Lexepro and that sent me into a major depression within one day, and I ended up tossing out the pills. Plus the side effects of that type of anti-depressant include weight gain, inability to orgasm, and lethargy. Even though studies have been done suggesting anti-d's like Lexepro combined with Yaz are the best way to treat PMDD, too many side effects mimic PMDD, so it makes no sense! I would go with Wellbutrin...)

I have been on YAZ for 7 months now and just started getting heavy spotting and break through bleeding. It lasted several weeks. I was on regular bc pills for 17+ years and they gave me hormonal migraines and night sweats. I tolerated it because my cycle is irregular and painful. YAZ does not give me migraines during the off week like other pills. My night sweats aren't as bad either. I'm thinking of getting the Mirena but keep hearing mixed reviews on that.

I was thinking about starting on YAZ soon because on the commercial it says you can kick the irritablility, mood swings, and all the other things i am experiencing because of the Nuvaring. I have been on the nuvaring for about a year and a half and am starting to think that it is making me crazy. Not only has it made my sex drive disappear, I have become overly sensitive and angry towards my boyfriend, and feel like i can't control when i get sad or upset anymore, even if i know it's for no reason. I thought YAZ would be my salvation, as i can't imagine going back to condoms. However, reading these reviews i am not so sure anymore. I kind of feel like there is no hope for me to get back to my old self. I just wish i could find a method that would be good for me. Has anyone switched to yaz from the ring or had similar problems with a BC method that yaz has better, or worsen?? please help!

I am so happy to have found this site. I have been on Yaz for about 4 months and my energy level is continually declining, I have migraine headaches again, my period seems to last for almost 2 weeks, my moods are uncontrollable those days leading up to my period, and I can honestly say that I'm depressed and have no desire for sex with my husband. It's terrible. I will definitely talk to my doctor about a change b/c my quality of life is suffering and it is affecting my young son and my husband. Thanks for sharing and allowing me to share.

I have PCOS and have been on Metformin for several years. I recently went to a new OBGYN and he said that I should have been put on b/c right away, so he put me on some. I have not started them as I just finally started my period again after 3 months. I was watching TV this weekend and saw and add for YAZ. For almost 5 years now I have been diagnosed with an anxiety issue and have been taking Welbutrin. (now the dr. never said what he thinks is causing the issue, but I believe it is hormonal related since I have PCOS) Well lately it seems the anxiety has worsend (especially since I started this last cycle). So what I am wondering and hoping is that since I have all of these symptoms that is says it is supposed to take care of, if it truley will or if it will worsen it. Anyone have any comments? Thank you ;)

I have been on Yaz for a month now and so far I haven't had any problems except for one-my libido has taken a huge dive. I did alot of reading on Yaz before I decided to take it and I will say that I was terrified too. There were so many negative postings from people. But I haven't suffered from any weight gain or nausea like I thought I was going to. I will say though that the libido thing is causing a huge problem for me though, so Im going to give it another month before switching back to the Ortho Tricyclen Lo I was taking before.

I would like for you to know that my 18 year old daughter has been through numerous test..(echocardiogram,holter monitor, glucose testing, thyroid tests, ekg.s)we are now scheduled to see a cardiac specialists and then to a Neurologists. She has been having episodes of near syncope (fainting) and experiencing blood pressure problems. She is very petite and fair complected. She called me and asked if I would check into her Yaz. Maybe that is why she is having these problems. After reading more and viewing comments on websites, I am scheduling her for a gyn appointment immediately. I am also taking her off of Yaz ASAP!!!!. We have been in the ER several times and all blood work comes back normal. She is experiencing lightheadiness, fatigue, stomach irritations, bloating, vision problems, and episodes of near fainting along with extreme paleness.
I would like to know if anyone else has had these types of symptoms. We are desperate and need answers!!

Thanks

I would just like to mention that YAZ is a horrible horrible pill. Within days of starting, I slipped into a horrible depression, with mood swings, change in sexual turn-ons, and really crazy death-related thoughts. It was a horrible experience, and it took me through the end of the first package to realize that what was happening to me was due to the pill and not coming from me. I stopped immediately and things returned to normal. But the experience was traumatizing and it will take me a very long time to psychologically and emotionally return to my old self. I definitely do not recommend this pill, or any for that matter. Pumping our bodies with hormones to prevent a natural process is probably the worst thing that we women could be doing to ourselves.

Its mine and my best friend's first year in college and we started yaz at the same time over last christmas break. She loves it and has no problem with it at all, but since I've been on it I cry all the time. I cry almost every night and i'm just not the same. I barely talk to my friends here and I'm pretty sure I didnt go out all winter quarter. I definitely have many days where all I want to eat is carbs and I just cant control it. Has anyone been on yasmin and does that work better?

I've been on Yaz for 2days. The first day I woke up the next morning in a sweat & was nausious. But the 2nd day (today) I was ok. I've heard a lot of good things about Yaz...this is the first sight i found that there are a lot of Neg reviews. I was on Yasmin before I loved that too, I've never had problems with b/c so hopefully it won't start with this one. I'll give you an update after I finish the first pack ;)

I have been on Yaz for almost 4 months now. I actually have noticed a decrease in appetite so don't worry about weight gain. I've actually lost 11 lbs in about a month in a half with no problems. Yaz has shortened my periods and helps me a lot with bleeding. Don't worry. You'll be ok

i have been on YAZ for about a year now and it has been a nightmare. night sweats, terrible migraines, excessive bloating, weight gain, and very low labido. i complained to my doctor after two months and he told me to give it a little more time. i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one to have these side effects. i thought i was going crazy because everything i read said that while on Yaz i should feel the complete opposite. i'm so happy to be switching and so is my husband.

I will finish my first pack of Yaz in 2days and I heard mixed reviews about it. I haven't had any side effects, except I felt nauseous the first 3 days, I am waiting to see what happens when I get my period. After reading all these comments I am very confused and scared........If I have side effects I will definitely switch right away. I am a newly wed and I don't want anything to jeopardize my relationship especially birth control pills.

I suffer from PMDD. I'm on my 5th day on Yaz. On day 2, I experienced a very weird tingly painful sensation beneath my right jaw that leads to a vicious, one sided headache. Same thing every night. I've never felt such a thing. Could this be Yaz? I'm confused. Should I quit it now, or stick it out for the rest of the pack? I had such high hopes for this pill.

I use to take tri-cylcin lo..it was excellant protection and never had any acne while i was on it. The problem i was having was severe depression and mood swings along with bloating while only on that pill. My doctor switched my to YAZ. Its not as strong acne prevention but the birth control works. Also there is no bloating and other bad symptoms. I found with YAZ, that u have to take it exactly 24 since ur last pill and no more than 30mins late, or else with YAZ you get the symptoms. Cuz i took it a hour late once and got the symptoms. Also someone mentioned having either no period or a two week period. If this happens, then next time u reach the 4 white pills, skip the middle two and u will have a regular period no longer than 7 days. Just make sure not to have sex if u skip a pill. With Yaz taken correctly! you get no symptoms, a good sex drive, no pregnacies, less ance, and it even helps you get back to a healthy weight.

I am just writing this in the case that it might help someone else. I went on Yaz about 3 weeks ago and about 3 to 4 days in I started experiencing constant fatigue. I could not stay awake. I then started having hot/cold spells. I would wake up and my clothes would be soaked. I am dizzy and lightheaded and started getting hives which I have never had before. I have absolutely no appetite and have not eaten a complete meal in over a week. I also am very dehydrated from sweating. I called my doctor to see if it was the pills or what was wrong with me and she said to continue taking them as the side effects that I was listing were not documented side effects of Yaz. I did not continue taking it. I have been off them for 3 days now and I am not completely better by any means but my dizziness has already went down. If you think that what you are feeling is wrong, stop taking the pills. Look at some of the other people who waited months, it DOESN'T get better!

I am 29 years old have been using Yaz for almost a year. I have been going through a lot of difficulties in my life and I noticed an increase. I looked at everything and thought it was stress. I would cry at everything, moody, snap at any little thing, hairloss, I CAN NOT STOP EATING, I have pains in my sides. I was so scared and searching for everything that may be wrong with me!!!! My mother said to look into my birth control and I seemed to have the exact symtoms as all the women on here. This stuff is horrible. I have immediately stooped taking it and am scared of what it may have done to my body and life!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS BIRTH CONTROL OR LET YOUR CHILDREN!!!!! I AHVE BEEN ON A LOT OF DIFFERENT TYPES AND NEVER FELT LIKE THIS!!!! THE BEST THING I HAVE CRIED OVER IN MONTHS IS READING THESE WEBSITES AND FINALLY BEING ABLE TO MAYBE PINPOINT WHAT IS WORNG WITH ME!!!!!!!!!

So I am just now finishing my second pack and I don't have anything bad really to say at all. My appetite didn't change, I haven't gained or lost weight, I will say though, cramps are not as bad & i don't get bloated now which i abolutely LOVE! But w/the sex drive thing..i dunno, i didn't have much of one when i started so I wouldn't be a good candidate talking about that :) lol. But I like it... it's expensive though...my insurance doesn't cover it and it's $50 bucks a pop... I might switch back to Yasmin which i loved to. I will keep you posted ;)

I am getting so nervous reading all these horrible things about Yaz. I took my first pill last night. I feel a little bit dizzy but I'm thinking maybe it is just in my head because I have read so many awful things. It's very disconcerting to find so many bad stories. I'm 17 and my doc put me on it for irregular periods. I'm so freaked I prob won't take it anymore cuz I have a big exam next saturday and don't wanna feel weird during it. also i am going on a trip for a month and do not wanna be so scared the whole time. i wish there were more positive things written about it. the posts have got me so scared.

I just took the first pill yesterday and I woke up this morning feeling fine :)

I actually am in a better mood than i usually am in the morning even though I just finished reading all of these horrible experiences...

I took Ortho Evra about two years ago and stopped about a year ago and the day after I started up to about two weeks I felt horrible... constantly nauseous and tired... i was expecting the same with Yaz, but as of now I feel GREAT

I'll keep you guys posted since it's only day one. Anyone else feel good after the first pill and then everything went downhill?

this is my 5th month on Yaz. The first 3 months i had a week of breakthrough bleeding and then my period right after. Last month i had about 2 days of breakthrough bleeding (very light) and then my period the next week.. while on the sugar pills. I have NONE of these horrible side-effects everyone is talking about. The small bleeding is toleratable. I dont have any cramps anymore and i only have my period for about 3 days and its very light!

I have gained about 15 pounds and seem to be always hungry. My periods have NOT got lighter and shorter by any means! This pill sucks and I am getting off it right away!

I have been on YAZ 10months now and I have noticed since I have been on YAZ I have this burning (like a bladder infection). I have taken antibiotics for bladder infections and it still won't go away. It is almost like having a burning from a yeast infection. Has anyone else had this problem. Please share.

hi. I have been on yaz for 2 months now. My first like 3 weeks were miserable. I was moody and I would get headaches and very tired. So I called my doctor and she told me to wait it out and that my body just needed to get use to the new hormones in my body. So I listened and I completely missed my period for the first month and called my doc back and she said that was normal then my second month came around everything was normal. No side effects. My body just had to get used to it like my doc said. My breasts did get a little bigger but I havent gain any weight newheres else. So thats a plus. But keep in mind that everyones bodies are different. My advice to you is to really pay attention to what your body is doing and how its reacting and communicate with your doctor. I would take it for about 3 months to give it time and if it hasn't gotten any better then ask your doc to try another kind. Many of my friends had to try different ones put b4 they found the right one. Well goodluck to you!!!

I have been of Yaz for over 2 years and everything has been great until about 4 months ago. I've been real moody ,up and down, nausea with no vomiting my period doesnt usually come until I start a new pack so every month I think I'm pregnant.Me and my BF still have sex but for me its like if we do ok if we dont thats fine too, thats very new for me. I thought was going crazy but maybe its a late reaction to the pill. Also since they don't have a generic formof yaz its very expensive . The plus side if my periods are a lot less painful ,lighter and last only about two or three days.

I have been on yaz about 9 mo. I just finally figured out tonight what is wrong w/ me after reading blogs on this website. I have extremely bad migraines all the time and they are usually always on the same side and in the same spot on my head. I also have been extremely tired, fall asleep around 9:00 everynight, no energy at all. Constantly hungry, can eat and eat and never get full (this is so not typical of me). And, i have absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. It is horriable. I can also just look at someone and get pissed off/angry. I am going to dr. on Tue. and getting off of this pill. I was on ortho-tri-cyclen for years and never had problems like this.

I started taking Yaz about a week ago. I had been off of my other birth control for about 2 to 3 months prior to taking the new meds because I was on different rounds of antibiotics. I was diagnosed with chronic migrains when I was about 12 years old and since then, I have been taking Imitrex for that. I would typically go thru an entire pack of the migraine medicine every month (18 pills) while on birth control. During the short break that I was not taking any birth control I kept my entire pack of Imitrex for that period. I then started taking Yaz. From the very first day, I had the strange feelings in my chest like my heart was beating really really fast and I would get really light headed for no reason, just walking from one room to another. I could not even stand and cook dinner because I kept feeling like I was going to fall out. I continued taking the Yaz for only one week but every single day I would get the most insane migraine, just intollerable. I went through 9 of my Migraine pills just in the five days that I was taking YAZ. It was awful!!! I do not recommend this birth control. I also noticed that I was having awful mood swings and always felt like something was wrong with me and my relationship, and as many others have stated....ZERO sex drive. Never again will I take this pill, and never would I ever recommend this to anyone.

TAKE YASMIN, NOT YAZ!
i am a married 22 year old. i have been on Yasmin for 4 years. i noticed a little weight gain and headaches on Yasmin but mostly just normal PMS symptoms. I had seen commercials for Yaz and decided to switch to it 3 months ago because they say it helps with PMS symptoms. If you do fine on Yasmin DO NOT SWITCH TO YAZ. My breasts are so tender i have to wear 2 sports bras. Also my face is so full of deep giant zits! My whole face looks like i had a major breakout of chicken pox. i think my body is reacting to the difference in yeast in the pills. These deep zits on my face are so painful! whatever you do DONT SWITCH! These pills are horrible and i am definately switching back to Yasmin! Why cant they make birth control for men?????

Hello -

I never was so confused until YAZ.

I have been on yaz for 2 months and then took 1 pill of the 3rd month and decided to stop. I didn't get my period at the end of the 2nd month and thought I was preg. I am not preg. From what I gather people might skip periods. Does anyone find it wrong to skip periods??? Our body is made to have them each month and all of a sudden we are changing it. Does anyone ever think what it is doing to our body and can we get preg. once off the pill? SADNESS, TIREDNESS has walked into my life while on this pill. Before yaz I was on ortho which made me cry tons but I also had to realize that I was going thru a lot of changes so maybe that was the reason of my mood and not the last pill.

I don't like feeling tired, down and out, and concerned about being preg due to Yaz. I am so lost. Sometimes I think not to take birthcontrol cause the side effects aren't worth it. The headaches were HORRIBLE! and spotting OUT OF THE QUESTION. I can't spot, foreplay's too fun to give up.

Hey there.... I am searching on the yaz websites for ways to let women know about yaz. I just came across your posting. despite of the other problems you may have do not take Yaz. It is a poison you are putting into your body. My sister was on Yaz and she died a month ago she had a huge blood clot in her lung. (pulmonary embolism) She was only 37 yrs old. I love my sister and I miss her alot and she had 3 children that need and want their mom. So please don't take yaz. Find something else for the other problems. You know God never lets you down. So please turn to Him. DON'T TAKE YAZ!!!!! It is a poison and it will kill you. I know they say the most serious side effects are the less likely to happen. But it could still happen. No person is exempt from any of the side effects. My sister never thought it could happen to her; no one did. But it did happen and now she is gone. So please reconsider.

I am so sorry you are going thru this..if you don't mind me saying...I have a feeling the family doc is simply putting a bandaid on your problems.
has the doc run blood tests to rule out thyroid problems..have they done an accurate hormone test to test your hormone levels?.It could be other issues at state that Yaz may not be helping..pelvic sonograms to check for anything that might be growing{heaven forbid!} inside of you...
There are hormones called bio identical hormones...a natural approach... I don't think many "alternative" / natural docs take any sort of insurance..but that would be a suggestion...try an alternative doc...or get another family doc! get a second opinion...bless your heart..I hope I have not upset you more,I truly hope you can get the help you need,,you have every right to feel good and enjoy life! best of luck to you my dear!

I have been on all types of birth control pills. I am now currently on the YAZ pill, after recently having the MIRENA taken out because of serious moodiness. Any birth control pill gives you all the side effects listed above. There is not one perfect one for you. You just need to keep trying them out until you find one that best fits your body. Side effects comes along with any pill and that is just the consequence of taking them. I like personally like YAZ

My daughter has been on YAZ for 3 weeks now and all I can tell you is that she is a different person!!! She has been really tired, pissy and really sensitive. I don't think I've seen her cry so much. Ever little thing bothers her. She complains of migraines almost every other day (she never had them before). Her newest side effect is pain in her lower chest. YAZ may work for SOME, but it seems that it doesn't for for MANY. She is off of YAZ as of tonight. Good luck to those that are thinking about taking it. I can't wait to get my daughter back!

I would recommend that if you are on Yaz, that you GET OFF IMMEDIATELY!! I started taking Yaz in March 2008, and was admitted to the hospital for pulmonary embolism (blood clots in both lungs) on August 22, 2008!! Thank God I was treated immediately with the proper care. I am now on blood thinner meds until February and I have been told by both my cardiologist, pulmonologist AND hematologist NOT to get on Yaz or any other hormonal birth controls ever again.

If you want to save your life and stay healthy, get off of the Yaz birth controls!

I have been taking Yaz for 1 1/2 years now, and just stopped yesterday (after I finished my last pack, of course). I haven't had any serious side effects at all. I'm 27 and in pretty healthy shape. Yaz completely took away my period... I got it maybe 4 times in the past year and a half and it was only spotting. The doctor told me this was normal, and what's better than not having your period right?? It took away my acne completey as well. On the down side, I definitely have lost most of my sex drive. Even when my fiance and I are getting into it, I lose my drive after about 3 minutes. It's sad. I also gained about 13 lbs over the course of this time. I can't stop eating!! It has it's ups and downs... birth control will effect every woman differently. And by the way, I'm a smoker and have never had any blood clots, so there you have it. I would definitely recommend trying it out for 3 months... by then you should be able to tell if it's for you or not. Good luck ladies!

I have been taking Yaz for about 3 weeks now. My period is not due to start till next week, but the spotting is horrible. The spotting has lasted for 4 days, and I have had constant cramping just like having my period. I have no sex drive and my breasts are huge--which isn't a good thing in this case. I have uterine fibroids and wonder if the pain in my abdomen is due to Yaz's effect on fibroids?

I am so glad I found this website. I have been taking YAZ for about 7 months now. Since then I am always tired, never happy, always cranky, never feel like doing anything!!! I am so different then I use to be and I never figured out why. Also my anxiety has been terrible!! If I didn't look at this website I don't think I would have ever figured out what was wrong with me... I am glad I am not alone. I am switching to Zovia. Anybody know anything about it?

I started Yaz birth Control almost 8 months ago and it has been fine with me. When I started it, I couldn't feel a difference and I did not have any symptoms. I have not had any weight gain and my appetite actually decrease a little in the first few months, but it is back to normal. Yaz has helped with my mood swings and having a lighter period, as well as hardly any cramps. However, on the down side, I have noticed that last four months I get really anxious and moody when I go on the white "inactive" pills right before my period starts. Also, I have noticed my scalp hair coming out a lot more when I brush my hair or when I am in the shower. Also I have noticed at certain times of the month my sex drive is very low and it is hard to get turned on with my husband. So overall I have not had extreme side effects of pain or sickness. But I am still concerned about the hair loss and anxiety when off the pink pills, so will talk with my doctor soon. I hope this helps you out.

I guess everyone has different reactions to different pills. I personally need to be on birth control for endometriosis, and I also experienced para-ovarian cysts and fibroids back in high school. I was first put on Ortho Evra at 16--NIGHTMARE. I gained 30 lbs within about 4 months, threw up everytime I changed my patch, cried constantly, had WORSE cramps, and even got near-fatal blood clots in my legs (I still have scars 8 years later).
Down the road I took Ortho TriCyclen Lo, and can't say it was much letter. Moody, my periods were worse instead of better (and I hemmorage without pills, so it's hard to get much worse), weight gain and constant bloat, nausea, depression. Within a week of going off Ortho TriCylcen Lo, I lost 10 lbs of water weight.
I started taking Yaz 6 months ago, and it's the only pill that works for me so far. My skin has cleared up (not as much as with other pills, but significantly), any bloat I acquired within the first 2 months is down to normal, my periods last 2 days and the cramps are reduced, and NO BLOOD CLOTS! I am no longer anemic from losing so much blood. I will agree with those above, my libido is definitely dwindling, and I do cry more easily. Every pill affects everyone differently-- I am 24, and have never smoked.
Hope that helps!

Ive been on YAZ for 4 months now and only thing I have had are headaches. But my last pill i had headaches and very irrregular periods. Only thing that i havnt liked so far about YAZ is that my periods are pretty much skipping and not coming at all. But my body is super sensitive and thats how its reacting to the pills. I had very bad PMDD before i started on pills. My last pills i was on for a year and i was miserable still. YAZ seems to be working for me. Ive been meaning to talk to my gyno about the missing period though. Worries me just a bit, but im sure everything is fine.

As for weight gain...and how exercise doesn't work..you have to RUN, watch what you EAT, and work out at LEAST 4 days a week, you WILL see a difference, if you don't check any other medication you may be on or go see a doctor... Don't make excuses for yourself because your "fat"...

I'm on Yaz and LOVE IT, I've gained a few, my boobs got bigger but I had all the same problems as you before it and they are all gone...my face is clear, I have a moderate libido, NO cramps, I'm in a constant comftorable mood all the time... so if you read blogs about different people's experiences don't relate it to you because everyone's body reacts differently...if your not trying anything now to improve any of that then its worth a shot...and most importantly the weight gain is only water retention...and its only 5 pounds...

I don't crave junk foods, I dont bindge eat before during or after "that time" so I say its worth a shot...

if you want to change your lifestyle...start here!

I have been on YAZ for almost 5 months. I have experienced no weight gain, and I really haven't noticed a change in the way I act or feel. I am the same person I was before the pill. I know things affect everyone differently, but many times "YAZ disasters" found on the internet that are negative are a "one time" or "rare" occurance. I would urge you to talk to your doctor about all of your concerns. You shouldn't go on feeling scared. My doctor recently told me that the YAZ was the safest to be on. She said that things like Depto shots can take away bone mass. YAZ doesn't do that. It is a very low dose so it isn't supposed to mess with your appettite or mood. I hope that makes you feel better, but like I said, I would express your concerns to your doctor!

Hi girls. Ok, well here's my story. After being on YAZ for the past 6 months, i just stopped taking it 3 days ago. I had my first baby this past March. At the end of April, my ob/gyn put me on YAZ. I immediately went home and googled it to see if i could find out about any bad side effects. I actually found this site, and got worried, but went on it anyway because i've been on about 4-5 different kinds of birth control throughout my life and i've NEVER had a problem with any of them, so i thought i'd see how YAZ would affect me. Well...the first 3 months were fine, no problems. Then...i became EXTREMELY depressed and moody. I'd burst into tears, crying uncontrollably for no reason, several times a week. I had a lot of anxiety, i couldn't sleep or concentrate very well and i had major fatigue. I also felt my eyesight getting a little more blurry, but i don't know if that's just because i haven't had my eyes checked in about 3 years. I had absolutely NO sex drive. This made me even more depressed because i felt like my relationship with my husband was deteriorating; i felt so disconnected from him. I seriously thought i was going insane; i would cry to my husband asking "what's wrong with me??". I didn't feel like me anymore. I attributed all of this to post partum depression, and wondered if this was how i was going to be unless i got on some anti-depressant, which i didn't want to do.(And which, by the way, is what my primary doctor wanted to do with me after i explained all these symptoms- she just wrote me a script for Zoloft; never even entertained the possibility that it could be a side effect of the birth control which really makes me mad...i never took the Zoloft by the way.)
Then all of a sudden 3 days ago, i remembered this site and read all of the posts- almost all of you have experienced EXACTLY what was happening to me too!!! It took me months to finally figure out that maybe all these things were related to the birth control and NOT post partum depression. I immediately stopped taking the pill and...i have already returned to normal!! No more depression, anxiety or mood swings. I'm still tired but i think it's actually already getting better too. And so is the low sex drive- i can already feel an improvement. The only wierd thing is that i last had a "period" (if you can call it that) around Nov. 6th, and this morning i started bleeding again, almost like a normal period. I don't know if this is to be expected or not, so of course i'll be calling my doctor to check with her. On YAZ, my first 3 periods were pretty normal although i kept getting them sooner and sooner than i was supposed to. After that, i basically would have a couple streaks of blood, not anywhere near enough to wear a tampon, and then it would just stop. Then two or three days later, the streaking would start again for a day or two. I hated that!! It sounded nice having lighter periods, but i guess i just need that reassurance that i actually still have a period; that i'm not going into early menopause or something. I'm sure YAZ is great for some people, but it seems like it really negatively affects a lot of us. Like i said, i've never had a problem with birth control until this. No more YAZ for me- it's just not worth it. I would suggest giving it a try for a couple months, but if you start experiencing horrible symptoms- just stop taking it and call your doctor. I wouldn't wish these experiences on anyone.

Hello, I started reading all the posts on here and thought some of you would like to here my experience with Yaz since I have been on it for a year and a half. I first decided to go on a birth control because my periods were unbearable with all the cramping and pain and I would bleed alot. I have to agree with most of you, the negative effects I have experienced are lightheadedness, decreased sex drive, and muscle aches. But I feel that for me, the positives out way the negative, I have lost 15 pounds, no longer experience cramps with my menstrual period, and my periods are lighter and shorter. If you have just been on Yaz for a couple months your emotions may be off but will go back to normal. When I first started taking the pill for about two months I was very emotional, would cry at anything, and was having bleeding in between my periods but it all went away after a couple months. Hope this helps someone, and remember everyone responds differently to medications.

I was on Yaz for about 5 or 6 months. I had absolutely NO sex drive. I finally went off and returned to normal in a few months. I can't really remember any other side effects. I will not be using this pill again once I have my baby and return to using the pill. Here is a website on birth control that has been linked to serious side effects. Yaz was one of them.

I have been on it for over 3 months and it does the trick for me!!! a lot of people have negative side affects but i am better in a whole than with my last prescription. I used to get so mean that i didnt even act like myself, it was interfereing with my relationships with people big time! Yaz took me atleast a month to adjust with strange side effects like feeling emotional but since then i have been very level in my moods and feelings - hardly any cramps.. my boobs did get bigger and i gained a little weight but i am 21 so im gonna gain anyway. I dont want to go off if it because it has actually leveled me to where i no longer have mood attacks and its so nice!! I think i had that condition PMD or something, and i feel better! I think that if you find a birth control that works, stick to it! give it longer than a couple days.. id say after 3 months, if you are still feeling things you dont like then change!

I am 36, three healthy kids, tubes tied, thermal ablation 2 years ago, non-drinker, non-smoker. I have no need for BC. I have been super edgy and easily irritated. Even noises would get me upset. My kids are afraid of my moody swings. My doctor prescribed YAZ yesterday to counter the effects of Wellbutrin XL/450mg daily. I have anxiety and moderate depression. I haven't been on "the pill" in 12 years. I took the first one last night. I want to feel different but I don't want to die for it. I'll keep ya posted...

I am 44 years old and began taking Yaz about three months ago. I now have a very high level of Potassium. I have very bad stomach aches after eating or when any thing is in my tummy. I have had all kinds of test from Scopings to CAT Scans and nothing was found. My doctors advised me to stop taking Yaz. I have stopped for about a week now and have started to feel a little better. I started taking Yaz to help with crapping and irregular periods. It helped with those symptoms. I did not have weight gain, but felt nauseous and blotted all the time.

Birth control making people gain weight is just a myth. It might increase ur appetite but that doesn't mean you have to eat. The girls who gain weight gain it because they choose to eat excessively. It's called self control! Without it yes u will gain weight. It's a medication, it's has different affects with evryone. I've noticed with already big girls they actually lose appetite n lose weight. As far as your psych problems before, thats what Yaz is for. It helps with cramping, mood swings. You should do your homework before you start birthcontrol, so you don't freak out...like so. Girls freak out when they get on a certain pill when they get weird side effects, but yet they stay on for months. Makes no sense. Your doctor tells you that if you don't like one let her know and they will try another. Unfortunately it's the only way to find which is right for you. If you don't like it (it is intimidating) then maybe you shouldn't look into it.

I have been on Yaz and wellbutrin both for 6 months. No wonder my bras are getting tight! I didnt realize that was a side effect!! I have been evened out by this reg. I am happy when I should be, sad when I should be, and freakin mad... when I should be. These posts could freak anyone out. But try and see... you can find one of these sites on everything out there. If the side effects you experience are making you worry... its not for you!

I think Yaz will affect different people differently. I have PCOS and was put on Yaz as the best B/C for my condition. I'm also taking Spironaldactone. I've read all the post, and many are very negative. When I was put on Yaz, I was stressing so much, worried that I was going to experience all the side affects people have spoken about. Well it's two months and nothing. I feel fine. The first couple of weeks, I felf tired. I will say that it totally cleared up my acne and I'm not as hungry. Really weird but I've noticed a decrease in my appetite which has basically helped me to lose weight.

I have been on YAZ for about 7 - 8 months now. I knew something was wrong with me and went to my doctor and had her do blood tests. Everything came back normal. I had gained 40lbs since I have been on the pill and have absolutely no energy anymore. I am more depressed now then before I started it. I bleed every other month when I am not supposed to. It does not help with my PMDD at all. My mood swings are horrible and I feel sad all the time. Before I started taking the pill I was always doing something. I went to the gym reguarly & was healthy. Now I'm over weight and lazy. I have not been to the gym in months and don't even like leaving the house anymore. I was going to go to a specialist soon to have more blood work done until today when i started researching the YAZ a little more then i originally did. Today is first day not taking it & I will never take it again. I don't even have any reason to be on it since it completely took away my sex drive. Thats why its a birth control pill!!!! Maybe it works for some but it did not work for me and basically ruined all of 2007 for me. I will never take YAZ again or reccomend it to anyone. Hopefully now I can get my life back. I'm only 27 and feel like I'm 77!

I am currently on ortho-tri-cyclen-lo and am looking to switch. I gave it a good go... a year and a half, but the side effects are too aggravating. I work out at least 4-5 times a week for a solid 1-2 hours of cardio and wieght training which I have been consistent with long before I was on the pill. i pack fruits and veggies and lean protiens into my diet. I even take fiber supplements and eat high fiber carbohydrate intake in my breads and cereals. By all accounts. I should not be gaining wieght. but I have noticed a consistent "ring" of what appears to be water around my middle. I changed my diet and work-out routine. nothing worked. I know some people think it's not birth control, but in my case, I'm pretty sure it is. I was looking at Yaz due to the fact that it does not cause bloating and weight gain with a healthy diet and exercise. I'm still not 100% sure what to choose...

Does anyone have a suggestion. I know I need something with low estrogen levels.

I have been on Yaz for 2 months and I have INSOMNIA bad. I sleep every other night and sometimes 2 or 3 nights in a row. My sex drive is gone and I sweat profusely. My mood swings are horrible. I tried to get on birth control because I dont like condoms, but I'm going to find something else. This was the third hormone birth control and I'm done with them.

I have been on yaz for 4 days now, and have noticed a slight increase in hunger. I am extremely worried about weight gain and the emotional rollercoasters most of you have experienced. this site just made me decide to stop taking yaz. thank you

Personally, i'm getting off all birth control for a while until my body is back to it's normal functioning self. Birth Control has done NOTHING good for my body. I've tried many types & they all make me extremely sad & make me want to isolate myself.
First i did the Shot form- and my OBGYN said i was the only person she ever knew who Lost weight on it. However, i was a swimmer at the time so i don't think it had anything to do with the birth control itself. Soon after, my boyfriend and i started noticing how moody i was. we were fighting constantly & my own Mother even told me i was being really mean towards him & asked me what was wrong. i told her I had NO idea why i was angry & my boyfriend never did anything to deserve my wrath. I just wanted to be alone w/ my emotions bc i could not control how i felt. it was very overwhelming. I quit going for my shot & DID NOT HAVE A PERIOD FOR 2 & 1/2 YEARS!!! I finally scared myself into going back to the doctor, when i considered my future & whether or not i would want to have kids one day. I wanted to know if the option was still there. I had many blood & hormone tests done & everything appeared to be normal, but no period. Then my doctor had the great idea of putting me on Yaz. (Complete sarcasm) I wish i never would've started birth control again because my emotions are spiraling down again. Not to mention i've gained 20 lbs. in the past 6 months or so. I am very active, but my appetite has increased tremendously & none of my pants fit (increased 2 pants sizes) which is a self-esteem killer (that just adds to my emotional rollercoaster) I'm 5' 6'' & prior to starting Yaz i was at my happy weight of 115. Now i weigh 135. I feel very uncomfortable & bloated all the time. The only plus is my boobs have gotten a full cup-size bigger; for all you flat chested girls> This is one Positive :)
In addition to the emotions & weight gain... i have to take a time-out every day to take a nap or i can not function. For example, just yesterday, i fell asleep on a desk at the library yesterday for a good HOUR! (please note: on average i get 8 hours of sleep a night- MINIMUM) i can't seem to get enough sleep since i've started Yaz. & Lastly, my sex drive has gone down-hill.
BUT! Like i said before, i just decided to quit all this birth control stuff. No more trying stuff out & seeing how it will affect me. I want control of my body again. :)
I hope this is helpful for anyone who seems overwhelmed; you aren't the only one!

For everyone out there in need of birth control and in the process of finding the right birth control pill for your body, please do your research and MONITOR YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE AND BLOODWORK REGULARLY!!! Everyone is going to respond differently to the different hormones and different amounts of hormones in each BCP and it is completely irresponsible of Dr's to go around saying Yaz is safe and has very low side effects. For many people (given all of the sites I have seen like this one) the side effects were not minimal and I am one of them. To sum it all up briefly....just 4 days ago I checked my blood pressure as I knew something was seriously wrong with my body but could not figure out what it was. At 32 yrs old, 5'6", 125 pounds, and someone who eats right and used to exercise regularly (before I lost the motivation to do so 2 months ago) my BP should not have been any where near 145/105 all the way up to 160/120. After reading all of these sites and postings I realized that it was from the Yaz that I have been on for 6 months. So please do not rely on your Drs to keep an eye on your health, especially if you only see them once a year for your annual gyno check. I can't tell you how many posts I read from women experiencing headaches and dizziness which can be a sign of high blood pressure. So please, please, please check your blood pressure and have bloodwork done routinely to make sure that you are not on the road to a heart attack, stroke, or even death. Yes, 20-30 something year olds die from heart attacks and strokes on birth control pills, even if you don't smoke, aren't overweight, etc.

I just finished reading all of your posts and now I am very confused/concerned! I am a 49 yr. old woman who is fairly healthy and about 40 lbs. overweight, who suffers with Fibromyalgia and I'm currentley on Cymbalta and Norco for the pain. My last Dr.'s visit I brought up the fact that my "flares" always worsened the week before my period, so my Dr. gave me a script for Yaz.
After reading all of the negative side effects from all of you "youngsters", I am honestly wondering if an older woman like myself should even consider taking Yaz! My Dr. seems to think that my PMS could be effecting my Fibro and feels that the Yaz will help to alleviate those symptoms.
Any comments on this would sure be appreciated!

Today is my 5th day of taking Yaz. I had the common side effects, light headed, nausea, and stomach issues, moodiness. Last night after my boyfriend dropped me off at home after a movie I began to ball my eyes out. I went to my room and cried so heavily that my eyes hurt. I finally fell asleep and I woke up at about 12:30 am on a work night in a panic and severely cried again. I started thinking about killing myself and how I was going to do it and that no one loved or cared about me, I feel horrible! I can't stop crying! I had thought that it may be caused from this BC but I wasn't sure. I called my sister who has taken BC for years and she said that it could very well be caused by the BC that I just started to take and after reading all of these posts on various websites, I definitely believe that YAZ is the culprit. This is scary stuff! My ob-gyn is closed today (Friday) and I have to ride it out this weekend until I can talk to someone! Good luck to all you ladies!! This is a very difficult situation to deal with and it drives me nuts that guys don't go through any of the issues that we women seem to face!

I have been on Yaz foe over a year now and i love it. I was first put on something 24 and it completely messed us my periods making them a week late each time. My cramps before the pill use to make me bed ridden and my bleeding was horrible. I use to get so bloated that my cloths wouldn't fit. My mood swings were insane. And of course this lasted the week before my period, the week of, and the week after. I only have one week a month i felt normal. After starting the pill i now have no cramps at all. I usually only have my period a few times a year and they are basically just spotting. I have gained a few pounds but I know it's NOT from yaz. I'm a college student who eats bad and doesn't have a lot of time to exercise and i know thats why i've gained a bit of weight. I have lose a bit of my sex drive but it is so worth it for me because of all my problems before. My boyfriend also loves that I'm on yaz. Before he was my main target with my mood swings. Now you would never know it was that time of the month.

Are you sure you have checked all options? You don't have any other medical issues like maybe a thyroid condition? I wouldn't worry too much about Yaz. If you do see negative effects in 2-3 months just stop.

Hhi, There: Wondering if you have had your hormone levels checked - estrogen, progesterone, & testosterone (too much testosterone causes hair growth & weight gain). Your levels can be determined w/ an easy saliva test from an online doctor/pharmacy or your own doctor.

Sounds as though you may have hormonal imbalance, Your doctor can prescribe for you based on your saliva test to a compounding pharmacy (local or online) for a medication of natural estrogen, progesterone, testosterone to fit your own personal levels.

Birth control pills are synthetic hormones and can cause side effects the natural hormones don't. For birth control, you might want to try a patch (transdermal) instead of pill form. It doesn't have to go through your digestive system & liver, so there are less problems. Just a suggestion.

From personal experience (27 years on birth control pills) I discovered that too much synthetic estrogen causes weight gain, headaches, and CFS & Fibromyalgia symptoms. But, remember, you need to wean yourself off birth control slowly (not cold turkey). Hope this helps, and may you find the answers you're needing.

YES IT WILL!!!!Reading your post sounds like my 16 year old, she takes them for ovarian cysts, and pcos.....you may want to ask your dr to test you for PCOS poly cystic ovarian syndrome....the hair where it shouldnt be,also losing hair the painful heavy periods, the eating, the weight gain, depression etc thats what my daughter is going through....as far as YAZ is concerned, channel 163 in ny had a big thing tonight on it, people are dying from taking them they have a class action suit going on now because of it and they are telling people on them to call this law firm.... phillips national injury group (800) 757 2424 is a number for them i called tonight about it and they told me that there are soooo many badddd things about it, ....my kid was on them and forget about depression and mood swings....WORSE than before...they gave them to her and after a week she was crazy...they kept her on for three to four months, i demanded she go off....she was off for about a year and a month or so ago, her jackass of a doctor put her back on them because she wanted them for the weight loss....he gave a s * * * less about her mother not wanting them for her and prescribed them anyway right in front of my face....He claimed that they are no different than any other pills, thats a bunch of BS....be careful with those pills, it isnt worth the end result!!!!! Hope I was of help to you...have a great night

I love yaz I have lost weight and my mood is great, I am way more sexual on this pill than any other one, I naturally am anyways but others such as otho try and junel fe both made me gain major weight and be a lazy ass anyways don't be scared by other people's posts, everyone is different and no one is going to have the same weaknesses or tolerances than the next person. Talk to your doctor and make an assesment for yourself. We are only scared of the things we know little about, don't waste your time being scared. Do research and make up your own mind. People should be more realistic. Sorry to those who have had bad expiriences, I mean Yasmin made me suicidal and gain weight and blah blah blah I got through it and I'm okay we're all different. Take time to investigate.

Do not take YAZ, YASMIN, or OCELLA. They are deadly. My daughter is 19 left yesterday for WWU. She had been taking YAZ for about 2 years with no side effects, in May of this year right before her graduation she woke up with a severe migrane, then proceeded to vomit. She has never had a migrane in her life, we thought she had the flu, her symptoms kept getting worse migraines, vomiting, blurry vision, dizziness, fainting, heart palpitations, low low blood pressure, high heart rate, (the following came around the 2nd month) sore kidney area, sore up under her rib cage, loss of vision in right eye. All of these symptoms came in succession, we thought she just had the flu at first, but then it got to the point she couldn’t get off the couch or out of bed. Ironically, she had gone off of her birth control for about 2-3 weeks…boyfriend left for Alaska, she started with the migraines weakness and vomiting, went back on birth control thinking the illness might be womping PMS or something and then she got progressively worse. She has been off of all chemical birth control 4 weeks this Thursday and slowly her symptoms are going away, she went 5 whole days with out throwing up last week. After going through everything we have over the last several months I would NEVER have my girls on birth control again. In conclusion her gynecologist agreed with us that YAZ, Yasmin, Ocella, cause tiny blood clots in the system and when my daughter lost vision in her right eye we took her off bc. Liz now uses a diaphragm. Stay completely away from these products!!!!!!

I am a 21 year old college student who has been on Yaz birth control for about the past 4 years, and before that I was taking Yasmin. I had to start continuous birth control around the age of 14 due to an ovarian cyst that I had to have removed, it was the size of a football (yes I looked somewhat pregnant). Recently, I have been seeing all these commercials regarding Yaz and Yasmin on TV. I was very curious as to what this was about; I do not usually take those attorney ads serious. But this was too close to home to not check into. I researched Yaz and Yasmin on the internet and found a lot of women who have the same symptoms that I have had experienced over the years. I have had anxiety attacks, heart palpitations/racing heart, weight gain, panic attacks, slight depression, chronic migraine headaches about three to four a week (with at least 1 to 2 trip a month to the ER), having uncontrollable rage or mood swings for no reason at all, and my heart stopped 3 times within an hour for about a minute each time, spent 1 week in ICU. This happened 4 years ago and I was later diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope. Currently I have read testimonials of women who were also diagnosed with this while taking Yaz, isn’t it a coincidence that we ALL were on Yaz, while all this happened? I had no idea that it could be my birth control doing ALL this to me. I kept on being told that Yaz is the perfect birth control for women with migraines, I never thought to question/doubt them. I am lost as to what I should do; I got off of Yaz about a week ago and found that I already sleeping better, I haven’t had any 4 AM racing heart or palpitations going on, which I’ve had every night for years, with trips to the ER scared something was going wrong with my heart. But I am concerned that I have lost 7 years of my life because of this. I have been unable to work a steady job due to my health issues. I just received my Associates in Science in nursing, at a much slower rate than usual due to having to miss so much because of my health. Another concern I have is how is someone like me, once I get off my parents insurance ever going to have health insurance?
BUT if Yaz has done this to me and other why would such a product be on the market and the FDA does not pull it? I understand women have died from taking it (almost me too I guess). What if I cannot get my body healthy after how long I have been on them? I am so upset that companies get away with this kind of stuff!! Ruin someone life for what ... MONEY!??

sue6746:

I just wanted to let you know that there is a site called the "Yasmin Survivors Forum" (if you type it into your search engine it will come up in the results list) where there are many women (Including myself) who have experienced the terrible side effects you describe from either Yasmin or Yaz birth control pills and can offer advice and support.

I hope to see you there, and in the meantime, I wish you the best of luck and improved health.

I was on YAZ for almost 2 years. I am 41 yrs. old and liked the fact that it all but took my periods away. BUT as time went on I felt worse and worse. All this is in retrospect, because I never connected that it was YAZ until about 2 weeks ago. I got very cranky, weepy, moody, tired, bipolar like, and I had an insatiable appetite. I could eat all day, and I craved all the bad things. On top of all that, my sex drive vanished and I almost dreaded being intimate. I attributed that to my age and maybe being pre-menopausal or something?! Two weeks ago I figured out that YAZ could very well be my problem. I told my husband that I had been putting this stuff in my system for 17 yrs., the last two with YAZ, and I felt I needed to take back control of my body and let nature do it's thing. Well, let me tell you, in the short period of time I have been off that pill, I feel like a new person. My sex drive is back, too. I think we're just going to try good old condoms! I hope this has helped someone out there! I'm sure there are women who will have a great experience with YAZ, but from reading these posts, I'm afraid the majority of users are having problems like I did, and worse. ~ Annie ~

I see that people are discussing some of the problems they’ve experienced while taking the birth control Yaz. There are actually hundreds of lawsuits now that were filed by women who suffer serious health problems after taking Yaz and Yasmin. Many of these women suffered blood clots, strokes, pulmonary embolisms, as well as a number of other health problems. For more information about the lawsuits and some background about Yaz, check out the blog www.yazontrial.com.
