Hello, I can understand your dilema. I've been hypothyroid for 19yrs and I have yet to find a doctor that would listen to my issues. I tried "Thyroid Helper" from wellness resources and it helped me eleviate symptoms I was having but I was also taking it with Synthroid. I had to have my synthroid dosage lowered a few times, so I do believe that thyroid helper works. It helped me function better.

I have been taking Levothyroxine for about 1-1/2 years, do not have the side effects that you do. But, my doctor had to change my type of medication plus my dosage multiple times until we found one that seems to work. Thyroid helper is meant to nourish your thyroid, but is not a replacement for the thyroid hormone. It is possible for your thyroid to heal sometimes, but not usually. If your doctor doesn't listen to you or care about how you feel on this medication find another doctor. Life is too short to be treated like that. My doctor listens to every complaint and symptom and goes out of her way to work with me about it. It can be hard to find a doctor like that I know, but don't give up. You may just need to be on a different type of thyroid medication and you will feel fine. Go to a website called "about thyroid.com." They have a reference to help you find doctors that prescribe natural thyroid hormones such as "Armour Thyroid." If you need thyroid medication and you don't take it, it can cause all kinds of problems for you down the road. If you get on the right medication you may be able to take the Thyroid Helper and it possibly will allow you to decrease your dose. Be proactive about your health don't let one doctor bully you into giving up. Read all you can on the internet and find out about different types of medications and dosages, and what doctors will work with you. There is an answer out there for you.

Hello and bravo! Iwas diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 2 years ago. I was started on Levoxyl 25 mcg, then the pharmacist switched the prescription to generic, saying there was no difference. All the while, I was experiencing the same side effects as everyone else, albeit on the mild side. Then, my hair loss seemed to have picked up about 3 months ago, so I switched to Synthroid. My hair is not shedding quite as much but I am gaining weight, bloated all the time -- my symptoms are worse. So, I decided on yesterday to try a holistic approach for a while. I am trying Thyroid Support, and am cleaning up my diet a bit and will resume my daily workouts. Have you had any success without taking the prescription med? Please let me know. Thanks.

I originally came to this site looking for info on Synthroid rotting teeth and I came across your entry... I too have noticed new aches and pains... So much that I've wondered if I could possibly have another condition.... lupus, etc... Seeing your entry makes me wonder... I've been on Synthroid for 2 & 1/2 years now.... I only take 25 mcg per day... I have a slightly underactive thryroid... Did you ever find any other information on this?

I'm taking Armour (45) but still feel sluggish much of the time. I did try Thyroid Helper one time and it made me dizzy. However, I'm thinking about trying it again because I feel that it was possibly something else that was causing the dizzyness. I have hashimoto's and am not sure if that would mean something different. Or whether i should reduce the Armour. Any thoughts?

maggb1, the symptoms you describe are NOT consistent with any reported side effects of synthroid/levothyroxine. It sounds like you may have been sick with a mild flu or some other "bug" or virus that lasted 7-10 days (not unusual for a virus).

All the other "alternatives" listed that I've been able to find have been nothing more than alternative formulations of the same thing. And if your T4 is low, there's nothing but T4 that will raise the levels.

Taking a doctor's recommendation based on a blood test that you need to increase your T4 levels, but then ignoring his recommendation on how to increase that T4 by attempting to medicate yourself with "alternative medicines" is inconsistent and destined to failure. Work with your medical professional, not against him.

i started taking synthroid 3 weeks ago, during that time i had a colonoscopy. i mention this only because it may be a factor. a week after it i went for blood work. the technician said to me don't you feel that. ihave rsd and could not feel him taking blood. by that night my legs were too weak to walk and i was confused. called my doctor he was busy said if i was feeling sick go to the hospital. i went. cat scan and mri later they could not find a problem. they admitted me. they noticed that my hair had fallen out. i told them i was on thyroid pills. they did not give them to me while i was in the hospital. irecovered instantly. i stayed for four days and passed all neurologic testing. no stroke. i was happy and relaxed. i went home and resumed my medication this morning and have not been able to get off the couch, don't want to talk on the phone, light is bothering me, and i wouldn't want to be in the same room with me i amm so crankie and so hot. it has been almost 16 hours since i took the pill and i think it is the cause. the hell with the doctor who didn't even see me in the hospital. my pharmacist said her mother-in-law had the same reaction. the pill is 25 mcg and orange. i am allergic to pharmacuetical dyes, fillers, and flavorings. i am seeing the doctor once more tomorrow if he cannot listen and do his job i will get another doctor. MAYBE you were having a problem with the additives and not the medicine. or maybe you should have your trh tested and not your tsh. you should try another doctor and pl€ease keep up on line. your endocrine system is more than your tsh, good luck honey1 GRANDMA J.
