My 7 year old daughter has been on singular for 1 month. I have noticed weigth gain, crabby crabby and mean aggressive behavior....she used to be able to memorize her spelling words in school easily and now cant focus....she has seasonal allergies which 1 time brought me to urgent care because she was wheezing...so she ended up on this singular....i dont know what to do....she has anxiety and just cant focus...but i just dont know if it is the medicine???? or not???? i would have to say yes, her behavior is just mean and she is alittle sweet girl......i am sure there are 100,000 of 7 year old kids with successful treatments....where are those people???? i am going to take her off this medication

My 4 year old daughter gained 13 pounds in 7 months, and she was only taking singulair. The doctor denied weight gain being a side effect from singlair and suggested I change her diet and increase her activities. She has always been an active child, dance classes, gymnastics, swim lessons and just never stopping. Her choice of foods were never cookies or candy or even bread. But I increased her activities and eliminated juices and she still continued to gain weight. We also did a blood test to check her thyroid and the test was negative. The other side effects included sensitivity to noise and extreme mood swings. I took my daughter off singulair two weeks ago and will never put her back on it. I will let you know the outcome of my decision.
Good luck with your decision, afterall, our children depend on us for making the right choices for them
