I'm a 59 year old male, and was prescribed 10 mg Lipitor pills earlier this month, started taking one pill daily at supper time monday September 10th, as my cholesterol was considered high on my annual checkup. The next morning I woke up with sore teeths, but did not relate the lipitor to this tooth ache.
At supper time the next day I took another Lipitor pill. But as the evening progressed my toothache got worst, to the point I had difficulty sleeping. The next morning I woke up in pain, my upper right teeth gum felt as if I had returned from my dentist following a tooth removal - it felt like my upper gum had just been frozen, that same sensation when they freeze your teeth prior to it's removal.
I now have stopped taking Lipitor since, and the pain felt in my upper gum area has disappeared by the next day. I will retry Lipitor later on keeping a very close eye on this side effect and other side effects mentioned here. If it comes back I'm going to throw out these pills and maybe re-visit my doctor.
The amount of side effects mentioned here sure got my attention.
I'll probably be more careful on what I eat.
