HI,
Look I don't know if this will help :)
Firstly, a big hug for what you have been through and what you are going through with the moon face :)
I was on prednisone for ten years. I have been off it for three years.
It took two years for my face to go down to the stage where it actually is starting to look normal in photos again :)
I had ulcerative colitis and eventually i got them to cut out my large bowel and get what is called a j-pouch. Then i was able to get off the prednisone.
I still think that i have a puffy face. It has been three years now. But it is definitiely going down and most people don't notice it, only me.
What saved me and may have hurried the process along was to see a naturopath. She put me on a protein and vitamin and mineral supplement and huge amounts of magnesium.
I noticed that my body began to get rid of the water retention when i started to take these things. But it was very traumatic every month. My body seemed to go through adrenal crisis every month where i would feel sick and faint and my body would puff up especially my face but then it would go down even more so than it had been before.
So I don't know it was the supplements that caused my adrenal glands to start working again.
Are you still on any prednisone at all or are you on any drugs at all that may have steroids in them?
Because if you are then you will probably still have the steroids controlling your cortisone production which is causing the moon face.
Some drugs that we are given for the sort of thing that you have actually have steroids in them but the doctors just don't tell you.
I would check out every drug that you are on and find out if it has steroids in them. This includes asthma medications.
Anyway if you want to talk to me more about this then please e-mail at paperworkfairy@gmail.com,
Good luck and big hug
Definately get checked for hypothyroidism. Low thyroid can also cause these symptoms. Also see if your Adrenals are functioning.
Have your doc do a TSH, FT3 & FT4 test. And also have him test for antibodies. Good luck
