Oh my, you are supposed to be taken off of this medication slowly, and your cardiologist should absolutely know this. What can happen with sudden discontinuation could be dangerous to you, and you need to be careful. If you research this medication you should find what is commonly referred to as the 'rebound effect' which is nothing to fool around with. I don't know how long since you stopped taking this, but I would find out more and talk to your doctor as soon as possible.
Some people have it worse than others, but regardless you should get as much information as possible and perhaps confront your doctor with your concerns. If he doesn't seem to know better, I would definately get another opinion. The rebound effect has even been known to cause heart failure in a worse case scenario, so I hope you seek help.
By the way, your symptoms are very much like others who have reported here. I personally have been taking this medication for over two years, and the sharp chest pains I have are getting worse. I'm tired of feeling this way, and I am trying to find a doctor who is more familiar with this medication...all I can say is good luck to you a be careful...take care, JC
