Against my better judgement, I followed the doctors advice and put my then 9mth old daughter on singulair for severe allergies. When she started to take it she immediately began to change. he became aggressive, moody and would have nightmares, while waking up screaming. I voiced my concerns to her peditrican and she said that those where some of the side effects but not to worry. As the weeks went by, my daughter's behavior began to worsen that's when I made the decision to take her off. Almost immediately after she went off singulair, she was happier, had no more nightmares, no tantrums and was not clingy anymore. I few weeks again my daughter went in to the doctor because she suffered from muliple ear infections and their reasoning was that her mius was not draining and that she needed to go back on singulair to help drain the mucus from her nose and ears. So I was scared because her doctors began to tell me that if I didn't get the drainage out of the ears she could suffer hearing loss and speech delayment. So, I put her back on the singulair. She has only been back on the medicine for 2 weeks ans she is back to her old ways, excessive crying, tantrums, etc. If I didn't get it the first time I really get it now. I will be taking her off ASAP and will NEVER put her back on it. The doctors should be careful about what they prescribe for children to take. They don't realize that the parents and children are effected by the decicions they make. We as parents only want the best for our children and we take the advie of the doctors because we assume they know and would not harm the children, but parents as we have read on this blog, the doctors either don't know or don't care. It is up to us to do what's right and that is follow your first mind and ask questions and research all medications they want to put your children on.
