Hi. My name is Wendy and I have been taking Yasmin for 2 months now and I feel great and I'm looking great! This pill has not made me feel any different than I did before and it has even helped clear up my face and help me lose a couple of pounds. (Its amazing that 2 years after giving birth to my daughter I'm actually starting to lose a bit of the weight that I had on me just from a simple birth control pill.)
Yasmin so far is doing its job and I'm not feeling bad at all. (I will reply though if anything changes.)
Every woman is different and so is her body. Horomones of all kinds can cause 1 normal woman to go completely wack. Sometimes you just have to find the right pill that makes you feel good. If something that you are taking causes problems and makes you feel bad, STOP taking it immediately.
Adolesence is a hard period of time to go through. Already there are so many different horomones changing and so many things changing inside of a young woman's body. (As well as life changing on the outside!) I don't think I would really blame Yasmin completely for the problems that your daughter went through because there can be so many other things that your daughter might be going through that are Unknown to you.
Or it could be the pill? Who knows? The point is, is that there are many, many women out there who have been taking Yasmin and that are feeling and doing great on it. My OB/GYN from when I was pregnant even recommended Yasmin to me after I gave birth to my daughter. She also told me that she had been taking Yasmin for years and she loved it.
Like I said.. Every woman's body is different.
Yasmin also comes with a thick little square booklet explaining everything about the contraceptive and its side effects. Most people don't take a look and actually read it so that could also be dangerous if they DO start to feel ill effects from the pill.
One thing that I read about is that Yasmin can raise the level of potassium in the body, which can lead to heart or kidney
problems.
Just because something is listed as a side effect, doesn't mean it will
happen to everyone. If it happened to one person out of say 100,000
people trying the medication (just pulling a number out of the air),
they have to list it as a side effect.
IT CAN elevate the potassium level in your blood, so the company recommends after the first month of treatment with Yasmin, a blood test be done to check the potassium level.
---------------------------------------------------------
Also I did want to say that YAZ and Yasmin are two completely different pills. (I read some people's messages on here and I noticed that some of them were assuming that Yaz and Yasmin were the same thing)
I also read and I was told this from a Doctor that YAZ can be dangerous because it can cause women to become depressed or women who are Bipolar it can intensify those feelings etc.)
-----------------------------------
Anyway, so far this pill (Yasmin) has worked out great for me and I will be staying cautious just in case. (Like any new medications that you take you should always be cautious and try to see if there are any changes in your body that may be negative.)
I do recommend Yasmin to my friends. As long as they are aware of the effects.

hi just wanted to let you know i went through a really awful time on yasmin both physically and mentally, i thought it was great for the 1st 6 months then i gradually started to feel anxious and depressed,i had palpitations, constant headaches, ibs, nausea. i can't tell you how awful i felt on it.i was on it for 1.5 years in total and can honestly say i was nearly suicidal by the time i stopped taking it. your daughter will get better but it will take time and alot of tlc.
Hi, I was on Depo Provera for almost 10 years. At my last annual my doctor asked if I ever plan to have children. I said yes and she said that I need to stop taking depo and I should switch to Yasmin. I guess depo is the worst thing to take if you want kids in the future. Anyway, I stop depo, switched to Yasmin and 12 days later I was admitted into the hospital because of a blood clot in my right lung. All the doctors are saying it is because of the estrgen in the Yasmin. I am 28 years old and otherwise very healthy. There is no other reason I would have got a blood clot. Be careful, I could have died if I waited any longer.
Some of your daughter's symptoms sound like hyperthyroidism/Graves disease. Has anyone ever checked her thyroid levels? I've bene on Yasmine 6 months and was just diagnosed with it.... I'm trying to find out if it's linked.
I was put on Yasmin almost 2 years ago for to regulate my PCOS. Everything was great. I was actually losing weight when I tried, feeling happier, feeling healthier. About 4-5 months ago, I started feeling a little depressed, and it seemed to stay. Now I am anxious, nervous, can't sleep well, think about stupid stuff, constantly worry, always feel like I'm on the verge of a panic attack, not to mention the hives I have all over the back of my head, my arms, legs, neck, pains in my chest, not being able to breathe. I've never had a problem with any of this ever. I've always been a happy, fun person, and now I just feel miserable. I am at a dilemma though, because the Yasmin was helping with the PCOS, and if I go off of it, I may have the same symptoms of that come back again. I go to see my GYN on the 17th. I called her office the other day, and she told me to go off the BCP until I see her so that she can evaluate the situation, and find out what is wrong with me. If you go to the Yasmin website, it actually lists all of these things as side-effects. I have printed it out to show my GYN. I'll keep you posted on what she says.
I was on yasmin for 2 years after i had a cyst burst in my overy. I wanted to have another baby and i got off yasmin in may and it is oct8th. I am still not preg. my periods are very irragular and I also started getting milk in my breasts. the docs said it could be my pituitary gland but i don't want to do the mri unless i really have to. I also have had bad mood swings and i'm so nervous and paniced all the time.I'm makeing my husban nuts. he thinks I'm crazy most the time. What do you think I should do?
I also had graves but that is better now.
I was told pretty much the same thing. However, once on Yasmin for about 2-3 months I experienced extreme headaches and stomach pain. My moods were horrible. One night while lying in bed the whole left side of my body went numb. It started with my arm and then extended to my whole left side. I thought I was having a stroke or heart attack. I went to my parents and had my father check my blood pressure, which turned out to be extremely high. This freaked me out. I started getting light headed. My body was still half numb. My chest started hurting. My mother went and got my husband who then took me to the hospital. They ran several tests and turned out I had a severe panic attack, something I never had in my life before taking Yasmin. They told me they didn't think Yasmin had anything to do with it. I told another individual about my situation. She told me her daughter was on Yasmin and had a stroke. The girl had no prior medical conditions. I am up for a class action.
wow, I am so glad I came across this site. I was diagnosed with a cysts on my ovary, after discussion of another surgerey ( I had my right ovary removed due to a cyst in Mar2007) It was suggested I go on bcp. So my doctor gave me Yasmin. I took it for the first time yesterday, by evening I started to get a migrain, which is somewhat normal for me, but this morning I woke up with swollen sore eyes, discharge like sever eye infections and the headache is persistent and still around the eye area.
After reading about your daughters conditions, Im not taking any chances and will try switching to another brand.
thank-you
I went through the exact same thing your daughter went through, four years ago, I endured everything your daughter did. I was 31 years old, and it was the worst thing that could ever happen to me. My anxiety and panic attacks lasted for almost six months. I never thought that this was related to the Yasmin, until today. The reason being, I stopped taking Yasmin four months ago, to give my body a rest (since I have taken it for so long). Needless to say, I started to take it again last month and I have started having migranes and my anxiety level has risen again. I Googled 'Yasmin and Migranes' and came across this site. After reading what everyone has said, I defintely agree that my incidents were caused from Yasmin. The anxiety and panic attacks that I endured, led me to research the disorder extensively, and everything led back to it being genetic. No one in my family (immediate) has ever suffered a panic attack. Needless to say, it was very frustrating to be told that this and that is wrong with me, and now I finally know what it really was Yasmin. Today is the day that I will investigate a way to file a class action lawsuit. I wish the best for your daughter.
You may want to take a look at this site also. There are so many woman who are on this drug and have no idea what it is doing to them.

I would totally agree with your post about Yasmin. I took it for a month andwas so depressed m, I could not get off of it soon enough. My doctor said wait until the third week and I did, but I was in an extreme depressive state. I also tried effexor and it had terrible side effects on me they also
prescribed too string a dosage. After reading these blogs Yasmin should be investigated by the FDA or another group and so should effexor. Some Dr/s are sold on these medications by the pharmaceutical companies, nut do not have the exoerience of taking them. My mother also knows about five people who took yaz and were depressed and she was only aware because of what I told her. There needs to be more awareness and any physician who rebrescribes a medication that is unhelpful does not listen and is putting a person in danger. Some Dr.s think their God and act like you do not know what is going on with your body. The pharmaceutical co.
want to make $, a class action suit makes sense.
MAKE SURE YOU POST YOUR DRUG REACTION AT FDA.GOV SO WE CAN GET THIS DRUG INVESTIGATED
