I am a 66 year old female with high blood pressure, 150 or 140ish over 90 or a bit higher. Was on 25,, then 50 then 100 and now 200 a day and also taking lisinopril. Can't sleep, and I always was a great sleeper. Not a big fan of taking drugs. Now she put me on Lipitor for 229 cholesterol. Feel I'm being overmedicated but Dr says it's just fine. Have a daughter who is a hospital RN and she says none of her patients take 200 doses. Does anyone else think 200 is unheard of?

I have been on Toprol XL 50mg. and 100mg. I am now on 50. My doctor would not give me anything higher than 100. I have used it for 2 years with 2 other drugs Norvasc and Diovan. This combination works so great for me my blood pressure runs around 130 over 70 all the time. I think my cardiologist was right when he sais some people need a medication cocktail.

My friend...here is my story. I am 46 yrs. old and experienced eclampsia with my last pregnancy 11 years ago. This is what brought on my hypertension and it has never gone away. Today I take 400 mg of Toprol XL and Linsopril. I started at 50mg years ago. My blood pressure is still 140-160ish, over 85-105. I hate taking the drugs but I do not know what else to do. I have brain fog, terrible memory, tired, ache everywhere and high triglycrides. I am 30 lbs overweight and working on that. So, I would not say that taking 200mg of Torprol is unheard of.
