Strange, I was taking Altace and my prescription drug service wanted me to change to generic form. My cardiologist changed me to LISINOPRIL. For the last two months or so, I have been getting increasing amounts of cramps in my lower legs and feet if I should wake while sleeping and stretch, and sometimes for no reason.
This happened to my 5 days ago when I awakened shortly after 6:00 AM. I had severe cramps in my lower legs and jumped out of be very quickly to try and straighten my legs to ease the cramps. I immediately began getting dizzy and started stumbling and bouncing off the walls to my bathroom. I was able to make it to the commode to sit so that i would not fall. I lost consciousness. Upon EMS taking me to the hospital, it turned out to be a stroke from a blood clot, probably coincidental, and after about close to 4 hours I began to regain use of my right arm and leg and was able to begin speaking again. While at the second hospital in their stroke center I continued having really severe cramps. I was them put on an IV of what I was told was saline solution. The label said Sodium Chloride. The cramps soon subsided. Apparently the LISINOPRIL has a tendency to remove fluids from your system. I don't have concrete evidence of this other than the fact that I don't know what else could have caused me to be so dehydrated??????
At first I thought I was having effects from my cholesterol medication again and was considering not taking it. The IV really helped. I hope to find out more later.
