I had always taken Armour thryod for 40 plus years and the FDA took them off the market without any warning to me. This happened to me twice. The last time on one could decide what to give me. I do not have a thyroid gland. I am not able to take synthroid and I finally found a doctor who put me on Cytomel Tab 5MCG twice daily, along with Levoxyl Tab 125MCG. Levoxyl alone is not enough. I feef better now than I have felt in 45 years. No hair loss, no nausa, no swollen fingers, and best of all my legs do not ache when I walk. Besides other illnesses I could not feel better with this treatment.

I just started taking Levoxyl 100 mcg 3 days ago, I guess it takes 2 weeks to kick in. After my total thyroidectomy the surgeon had put me on 25 mcg of cytomel and it was to much for me with the nervousness, sleeplessness and panic attacks. It's a very fast acting thryoid hormone t3 so it can do that. I couldn't take that. Anyway levoxyl from what my Endo (28 years in the business) told me was a pure natural thyroid hormone just like your body makes but figuring out how much your natural thyroid put out is the problem. They guess with your weight and height and that's all they can do at first. I asked him about natural armour everyone talks about but that's a cow's thyroid hormone I think I would rather try ours. I feel the same way about Levoxyl. I take it in the am and I have severe insomnia at night. I'm even on sleep meds and still have lots of problems with insomnia. I think the Levoxyl contributes to the insomnia. Good luck.
