I experienced neurological effects of reglan. I am an adult, mother of a 4 year old. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I found a wonderful neurologist who is a "movement disorder specialist". She is also very open to alternative therapies. She helped me to get off all of the medications, inlcuding reglan, and the klonopin and xanxax that other doctors prescribed me because they said it was "anxiety", not TD. She said I had Tardive tremor, tardive tourettes, and tardive dystonia. She put me on TARVIL, an amino acid "medicinal food". You have to get it by prescription, and it is expensive. For me, I was on Tarvil for several months, and eventually was able to wean off of it after I weaned off of all of the other meds. I am now almost completely recovered. From what I ave read, recovery is easier for the young (children), so pray a lot, and see if you can find someone who is willing to let you try Tarvil. The amino acids are leucine, isoleucine, and valine that fromulate the tarvil. Stay way from anything that has excess phenalalanine, like diet sodas for example. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
My daughter is 8 months old and her reflux and throwing up all her feedings has gotten to the point of frustration and unhappiness. She has maintained her weight an overall health, but I change her cloths, clean everything she sits on at least six or more times a day. To make a long story short, my I husband I took her in to the ER for excessive vomiting one night and the Doctor there gave us a prescription for Reglan. My question is why did our peditrition not give it to us in the first place? When we have voiced our opinions numeruous times before. Is this regamine not the right way to go?
Reglan kills. My mom started taking it at the end of March 2008. She started with tremors that were debilitating. The doctor said she need to get off the Reglan because it was a "nasty drug". She was in a nursing home and we thought they had taken her off it. They did not. She suffered unexplained seizures on Oct 21st and died on Nov 1st. Do not take this drug. It needs to be taken off the market. Many of the side effects are irreversable. I have heard more and more that people that have taken it have Parkinsons. No....the drug causes Parkinsons like symtoms that are misdiagnosed and they do not go away.
