i posted most of my side effects a few days ago...weight gain, severe acne, joint pain, abdom swelling, headaches, inability to lose weight, long bleeding,aggression/depression, etc. I've scheduled my appt to have Mirena removed next week. Does anyone know how long it takes for all the "side effects" to go away? I'd appreciate your input. thanks.

You will have a few side effects after removal. EXTREME BLEEDING and CLOTTING. I had my Mirena removed Friday September 28th. I had light bleeding that entire weekend. On Monday October 1st, I woke up to heavy bleeding and clotting the size of a small apple. Scared me half to death. My bleeding was light the next day and on October 3rd, I experienced heavy bleeding and clotting again. I "googled" removal of mirena and I saw that everyone had the same reactions. Since the last clotting episode, I have stopped bleeding, no cramping, no joint pain....I feel like myself again.

Hi! I had my Mirena removed on the 4th of October and a couple days later I felt better emotionally and my husband noticed the change in my mood. I haven't stopped bleeding yet... but almost. I expect I will be done tomorrow. I too had extreme bleeding and clotting after the removal but it has settled down. Just be patient and because you feel better emotionally it seems easier to handle the after effects. Congratulations on getting it removed. Don't let them convince you to keep it. Good luck!
