I have read a ton of the posts in this category. I have been taking Lisinopril as an addition to my regular blood pressure medication for approximately 3 years, with absolutely no problems. My 10mg was increased to 20mg a week ago. Still no problems. It has only helped me. If there are any changes, I will definitely post it. I believe that symptoms can arise from reading an article. I actually know a couple people who read things, and suddenly they are convinced they have the problem or disease referenced. I call it an Epidemic of Diagnoses. Always seek a doctors advice before stopping medications. Stopping suddenly on certain drugs, can be more dangerous than taking them.

You are very fortunate...But let me stress this, NONE of us are imagining these side effects. They are all too real. I'm now going the round of doctors. ENT etc. Thanks to this stuff I have'nt had a voice since July. I am NOT imagining that.My oncologist nearly hit the roof when he found out I was only taking this as a preventative medicine. Given to me by my GP.....The oncologist said the side effects are horrific. Most of mine are gone except the cough and hoarseness....Just remember one thing the side effects can strike any time. Some people take this drug for years, then boom, their lives change dramatically........

you sir may be a lucky one.i developed a rash of these symptoms, quit taking the drug yesterday after two weeks because i know my body and KNEW it was from the only drug i had been taking....you guessed it lisinoprol.i only found this article after the fact which actually exposed a couple of symptoms that i had not attributed to this stuff. The first thing was the confusion, i actually had a hard time getting home from work one day...thought i was having a stroke.of course the label tells you to call your doc if you have chest pain.that should be a dead giveaway.on top of the confusion i had very bad chest pains on three occasions, severe leg cramps that would not go away for some time, cramps in my hands, numbness in both hands and feet , and heart palpitations.the end all was on monday when i had the worst headache i could imagine that carried over to tuesday morning with a stiff neck, dizziness that almost made me pass out and vomiting five times.i almost at the point of calling 911.well that stuff went straight where it belongs... in the garbage disposal, and i'm gonna fight my HBP with natural methods that are proven to work.no more poison in my body!!

I work for a dermatologist and know for a fact that there are patients who get itchy rashes on their skin from Lisinopril. It can be immediate or in the future. Sometimes they occur a year or so down the road, and they are stubborn to get rid of. I, myself, have stopped Lisinopril because of an array of side effects I had PRIOR to finding this site. I am glad to feel like myself again!

Please don't get me wrong. I do believe you can have issues with taking it, just like any other drug. Allergic reactions suck, and you do have to be careful. Niacin kicked my a** when I took it. Never touched it again. So for those with issues, I do feel sorry. Just don't want everyone jumping to conclusions the second they "think" they have one of the symptoms. Get checked out. Thanks all.

I'm sorry but you're wrong. I've been on Lisinopril for a few years now and I was considering going to an ortopedic physician for my SEVERE leg cramps and seeing a specialist for my loss of memory and my chest pains ((I actually went to ER for that) but I decided NOT to take my Lisinopril last night and miraculously I have no leg cramps and I feel 98% better. I'd already suspected that it was this BP drug that caused the issues. People aren't stupid and I don't think that they BELIEVE they're ill because of the power of suggestion.

It might be better if you were a little less judgemental of the behaviors of other people. I am sure that many people, including myself, found this site as we were looking for an explanation of our symptoms. I am a registered nurse, a flight nurse, and a legal nurse consultant and consider myself to possess a certain amount of medical experience. I am also a female over 50, so it is very easy to dismiss vague, or generalized, complaints to aging or menopause. It is only when family members began questioning my level of energy and the persistent cough that I decided to research into this drug a little more. I have developed severe fatigue, a persistent cough, a lump in my throat that will not dissipate, an inability to sleep, an occassional chest heaviness, swelling of my lower legs, and mood changes. Many, if not all, of these symptoms could be explained away by menopause, hysteria, anxiety, or minor medical problems like the flu. I recently went on a 2 day trip and accidentally forgot my Lisinopril. I was amazed at the difference I felt in such a short time. I slept overnight - and slept well. I was not fatigued - I actually went through the entire day without feeling like I was going to drop. The swelling in my legs has almost completely disappeared. These are not "imagined" reactions. I wasn't looking for the problem until the solution presented itself! I will not be taking this medication again and I will be contacting my personal physician. Please try not to be so critical - it may be you with the symptoms someday. I also believe that it is better to be aware and open-minded in all things.
